Maybe it is all about the NIL now.
That will take care of recruiting.
Thats why his staff is going to be key to making us feel better about the hire, I want to see him hire regional guys that have recruiting ties
I think this needs to be repeated. Thatās where I am at.
I bet he will retain someone on staff like Rossomando to help with recruiting until he is here full time. he will most certainly be recruiting for us starting right now.
Wowā¦weāre sinking the ship before its even built and launched
I was about to post earlier today I bet it will be someone none of us have ever heard ofā¦
I donāt understand the hire but welcome to Niner Nation coach!
I think that most ADs want to ādiscoverā hidden talent instead of hiring retread coaches that were someone elseās find
Subscriber only⦠On the off chance that someone is.
Just watched the E:60 documentary on Poggi. Had me sold on our new coach a couple of minutes in!
If you havenāt read the Athletic article yet, I recommend that you do.
A few days before Michigan won the Big Ten title game, Poggi got serious consideration from UConn to be its head coach. Jim Mora got the job. Poggi would be lying if he said he wouldnāt love a crack at being a college head coach; he loves projects, and there are certainly some programs that need fixing. One of his proteges, Macdonald, said Poggiās age and experience might elicit skepticism, but āfor some creative athletic director who is willing to think outside the box, itād be a hell of an investment.ā
It doesnāt hurt that Poggi has some of the biggest names in football in his corner.
āI believe Biff Poggi would be an absolute great choice to run a Division I program,ā Nick Saban told The Athletic. āManaging a football program is similar to overseeing a successful business ā vision, culture, hiring, management and understanding people are key. Biff has been there and has done just that.ā
Harbaugh said Poggi would be a great head coach if he gets the chance. āNo doubt in my mind,ā he said. āHeās got it all. Iād work for Biff.
I understand some of the concern but we also must remember that recruits read these forums. We might want to tone down the negativity a bit as we do not want to contribute to ā sinking the ship before its builtā as another poster wisely said
The constant incessant negativity and pessimism here is nauseating. Go NINERS!!
I donāt think weāre being overly negative, itās just that heās an unknown to us in Charlotte and we were all hoping for a safe an easy hire. This isnāt that. Could be a home run, but itās not what we as a fan base were wanting.
