Charlotte skyline in 2010

Wow! This looks good… Includes all of the new buildings under construction. The new Wachovia tower could become the tallest building in the city.

That does look nice. I have to say though, does anyone else notice the square those 4 buildings seem to make? It almost looks like they a quazi-mosque shape. They need to space those buildings out differently I think. The square just doesnt look right.

…Unless of course they were going for semetry and trying to make it like a crown.

Some niners fans at the new building??

That picture is actually short a couple of buildings, such as the proposed BofA tower at 7th and Tryon (that annoying parking lot that USED to be free… bastards) and a proposed 25 story tower as part of the old Carolina Theater site.

Also missing is the long awaited Park Condominiums on Caldwell. Might be another one I’m forgetting.

The picture they put in for the Wachovia tower that’s currently under way may be wishful thinking… renderings aren’t available yet, but it might be a stretch to think it’ll surpass the BofA tower. I hope so, this is probably their last shot at it.

it’s an 800 million dollar project. If they’re not building it to ridiculous heights, then I wonder what all that money will go to. Most 50+ floor skyscrapers don’t cost more than 250 million and even that is a high number.

Marble toilets on every floor!!!

Yet, another view…

Lets not forget about the Charlotte Knights move to downtown…talks are that it would happen by 08’-09’…that would be pretty sweet!

Plus it’s going to be LEED certified, which will make each story taller. It’ll probably be a monster, but I’m waiting for the renderings.

I think they got the extra building graphics from Sim City.

I don’t remember the numbers, but for LEED certification, a building has to have larger floors and windows to effectively utilize sunlight.

A thread on urbanplanet or skyscrapercity probably explains it well if you want to look for it.

It’s too bad we don’t have any curvy roads near downtown…I always thought a NASCAR street race (a la Formula 1 in Monaco) would be sweet :shades:

That would be soooo cool. Email the idea to the mayor. Maybe he’ll curve off 4 of the corners in the city and do it. It would be sooo cool and deffinetly help put us on the map. What other city in America has racing on its streets?

Well…Denver, St. Petersburg, Long Beach…but those are IRL or Champ Car races

Haha I was kind of asking it to help with my point but I actually wasnt sure if any other cities had it or not. So thanks for the info. Either way, it would be a huge thing for us to have racing on the streets here in Charlotte. I wonder how feasable and realistic it is.

NASCAR had a street race in downtown Los Angeles about 6 or 7 years ago. It wasn’t the Cup Series though. It was Winston West…same cars and no name drivers. It was pretty cool to watch. I would love to have one uptown.

It’s not a 2010 skyline, but I saw this on Wiki and thought it was pretty cool:

our skyline gets more impressive every year.

i noticed you can see the new 49er football stadium way off in the distance in one of those views.
