The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has just completed one of the more impressive fundraising efforts in higher education. Over the past eight years, the university has raised $2.38 billion, the fifth largest amount ever in higher education. The total exceeds the original $1.8 billion goal by $580 million.
It is an astonishing accomplishment, and if university chancellors are graded these days by how much money they raise, then Chancellor James Moeser gets an A-plus.
