Thank God this game didnât come down to free throws⌠or coaching. We out-talented them for the win.
So we had 4 fouls to give at the end of regulation with about 10 or 12 seconds left and possession of the ball with the score tied. Why did we think we had to run the clock down to zero before getting off a shot? Why not run a normal play and take the first good option. If time is left, we foul them 4 times in the backcourt to run out the clock. I seriously do not understand.
Our freshmen and PH were wonderful tonight. Willie was Willie. (did make a couple of foul shots, which our normally good foul shooters compensated for by sucking). I canât think of anyone else who played well. Mike Thorne, Jr was horrid, including a really stupid momentum changing foul.
This team has the potential to be really good. I doubt that happens, but Iâve been wrong before.
BTW, I thought we got pretty much every break in the book and were damned lucky to win. Assist to turnovers were 19 to 9, which is excellent. So there is progress in one area.

AM, what can be said here? Did anybody watch the other coaching staff and the intensity and involvement the whole game? We thoroughly got out coached by that group.

We lose this game if they have 1 more relevant player off their bench. Those guys for CoC were gassed from playing so many minutes but still managed to blast 3âs in right to the end.

We donât run any kind of set offense or movement for the 10th year straight.
Glad for a win but donât look for many more this season and look for a mid-pack finish in CUSA.
Dorn was really good. He should be starting. PH had a great 2nd half. Braxton is either really on or really off right now. No consistency.
Our 3 point defense was so bad yet again. Maybe we should try a 4-1 zone next time. Complete lack of focus/intensity/effort/urgency to begin the game - this happens way too much under Major. we better not lose to App.
Love the home cookinâ. Iâll take it. 3 pt D still sucks. FT shooting is still crap but * Willie hit 4-5. Good for him. We missed 6 FTs in a row at one point. DAMN! Donât understand our back-off D when we only had 2 fouls on us late. We shoulda been chest to chest literally with them until we got the 6th foul.
