Heck, maybe 134 is the right number. Just start the playoffs the fifth week of the season and go until you have one undefeated left. Backfill schedule for everyone else. The fifth week will involve six play ins from the bottom twelve teams. Sixth week is bottom remaining bottom 64 playing at the top 64. That would be fun at least one year

Id say that is where the bowls come in. Make the CFP conf title winners only then everyone else plays in the bowls. The better your SOS the better the bowl. Right now the SEC is basically saying only their conf matters because SEC - so OK let’s make it so.

The College Football Playoff would be more entertaining and have broader appeal if the conferences looked more like 1994 and less like the bloated conferences of 2024.

I’m watching the Dakotas play Saturday. These games look very interesting on paper and the only non-Dakota team playing is #1 ranked Montana. Also these guys don’t like each other. Should be fun to watch.
