The CFP rankings donāt come out until November 4th.
Yeah thatās what I was talking about.
Forgot their QBs are hurt
16 would not allow the Big 10 champion to have a bye.
They should go to 16 just to make it more fair.
Why should anyone get a bye?
Baylor AD Mack Rhoades is stepping down as College Football Playoff selection committee chair, amid a leave of absence at Baylor.
That puts the committee at 11 members, down from the usual 13. TBD on the next chair.

Certainly not the worst proposal Iāve seen.
Has the potential to get 3-4 G6 teams in the field.

This is criminal. These 3 loss ACC teams were put into the top 25, leapfrogging Tulane, and keeping 1 loss JMU and North Texas out (both ranked in the AP and coaches polls), solely to ensure that the ACC gets one of the conference autobids. If they hadnāt done this, it was entirely possible that the American and the Sunbelt got into the CFP while the ACC didnāt.

Isnāt this just wrong? Doesnāt the ACC automatically get one in? Maybe I just read it wrong
Yeah hootie, and I apologize for making you the example. This is the type of crap ESPN promotes and all radio stations and social media refuse to correct.
The CFP is currently setup so that the top 5 ranked conference champions get in. There are NO autobids for any specific conferences, SEC and B1G included. So if any of the P4 tank, they risk losing their customary place to a G5 champion. Which probably should happen this season to the ACC.
All the shit you read / hear / see about the supposed āG5 slotā (along with it automatically being the 12 seed - they make damn sure that happens with the rankings BS they pull above - especially after last year) is a fiction perpetuated by ESPN. Itās just another thing they do that I cannot stand. The language used to say the top 6 conference champs got auto bids - before the PAC imploded. I was one of the many strongly advocating to keep that language / setup. Over the long haul, it would have made CFB MUCH MUCH healthier in my less than humble opinion.
A lot of the rhetoric for the last several years has been purposefully designed to establish autobids specifically for the SEC and the B1G. They knew what they were doing when they said it.

Itās so blatant.
NA, so if Duke wins they donāt automatically get in the playoff? I thought they did. Clemson did last year.
The five highest rated FBS conference champions automatically qualify for the CFP regardless of their conference affiliation. If Duke wins the ACC they could be ranked behind the American and Sunbelt champions. Clemson made the CFP last year as the ACC champion but the Mountain West champion Boise State was ranked higher.
Yep what @NinerGreene said. Itās the 5 highest ranked conference champions. There are no bids specifically tied to any one conference though the SEC and B1G have been campaigning for it (one more than the other).
The talking heads on ESPN, social media, and the radio waves keep perpetuating the myth that the P4 leagues have autobids. They do not. Nor are the G5 champs automatically slotted in at #12. It just depends on rankings.
Those rankings seem to have been doctored though to push the G5 teams down in favor of the ACC teams, but if Duke wins, they simply cannot put a 5 loss team in ahead of the American champ and JMU (each with only 1 loss). It would be too stupid to justify.
Iām just going to pull for the scenario where the acc gets left out
