Thusly, you have sunk yourself below the character of a private gentleman. That I may not seem to accuse you unjustly, I shall state the circumstance:
The university should stop deluding itself and just stop entertaining the idea of football. It would cost too much, the school wouldn't support it, and they have other efforts that need their attention. Hell, you couldn't get 500 people to attend a baseball game even when the team was actually good.UNCC already has trouble generating attendance for its current sports, in part because the school has a heavy commuter population and its number of residents doesnât compare with most other state universities.
Given how little attention UNCC already generates, there is little reason to believe that football would somehow make it prominent in the local media.
Getting into a better conference would require not only having a D-1A football team, but one that would be of sufficient quality to be attractive. Given that the basketball performance has declined, it would have to be one hell of a football team.
Good lord, do you even have a conception of acceptable football attendance? 7500 would be an embarrassment. Go to an actual college football game and notice how many people are in the student sections. If youâre not drawing at least 10k (and obviously you canât expect to get everyone to come) then youâre not successful.
Dumbass, I asked you how much coverage UNCCâs sports normally get. I asked precisely because you canât make up the answer to that, since everyone knows that theyâre very sparsely covered. The local media doesnât care nearly as much about UNCC basketball as ACC basketball, and didnât even before their move to the A10.
