Judy said young and energetic. I tend to agree that this is misdirection, or Odom tootin his own horn for whatever reason.
i doubt it is him tooting his own horn since it said in the article that he refused to comment. im afraid that judy will say “he has a good understanding of what it takes to compete in north carolina” and “he had sucess in the acc”. but yeah, young and energetic, he is neither. would the school actually use a misdirection? for what purpose?
Sorry but I beat you by several hours on this suggestion on Disturber comments for the story. John Wooden is my call!
I don’t get this at all. If you had told me we were hiring Odom as AD I would think it odd but could see it as acceptable. But as head coach? Perhaps if we had been in the dumps and/or had some scandals then hiring a respected veteran like Odom to get us back on track would make sense, but we need someone to get us over the hump to the next level, not straighten out a messed up program.

As Jim pointed out, Judy never said “young” but she did say someone with a lot of energy and the ability to recruit nationally.
I wonder if James Naismith is available?
Nevermind, just saw it was already mentioned. Sorry for the thread, mods.
Wow, haven’t seen you around these parts in a while.

Hmmm. Beats me then… I have no idea what Judy is thinking.
Dave Odom scared him out!

go watch it.
FWIW, if we’re looking at Odom, then might as well bring in Tom Penders for an interview as well.
At least Penders nickname is “Turnaround Tom”
Everyone is coming out of the woodwork. Ninerupnorth even made a couple appearances after about a six year hiatus.
what the hell??
Whoever said they had no idea what Judy is thinking is the likely the most accurate poster so far.
Who knows what’s going on underneath that out-dated hair do.
no way…I hope not…this can’t be serious…please no
don’t want.
IDK, he might be a runner-up to John Chaney. Heard we are looking at Chaney and signing a home and home with Kentucky.
DAVE ODUM?
Pros: knows the area and local recruits, has had success (7 of 12 years at Wake = NCAA, 1 NIT championship, 3 ACC titles), can likely get us some ACC games on the schedule… this would not be a stepping stone for him but rather his last horrah…
Cons: He is not young and energetic, although his tenure at USC was not a bust, his last 2 years were both losing seasons and they won the NIT title twice (I’m calling that a negative)
