Tatum @ 63

As Lefty stated in another thread.
"Lutz gets frustrated because he can’t land the guys he needs to have a great program. 8 years of banging his head. It gets frustrating. "

Look at the top 100 players on that list and who they have committed to. Besides Gonzaga & Memphis (and look what they have accomplished lately) do you see any non BCS schools listed. The rich are getting richer and unfortunately we are poor. Makes you understand JUCO’s more.

Im kinda new at this viewing rivals thing. Is getting a guy ranked 138 very good, or just decent or what?

Rivals tries to be impartial, but its still political/popularity. Kids at the best BCS hoops schools tend to get pushed ahead of equally talented kids at non-BCS schools.

@ 138, I’m expecting a solid 4 year player who will contribute beginning his frosh year & start at least 2, probably 3 years.

Jobey Thomas is a good example of what type of player can come from that range. There are busts too, of course.

Top 150 is impressive.

what is BCS?

Gill. Not wanting to be disrespectful but aren’t you the one that was inquiring about the sportswriter’s job with The University Times??

well I want to be a writer, I was just enquiring into sports writing. I specifically want to talk with someone who is a sports writer, but being a general writer is what im apply for.

is what im apply for.

Well, at least you will have the Communications Degree.

LoL there is always spellcheck.

Big Crappy Schools

I posted this in another thread a while ago, but it bares repeating. This is one of the strongest classes in recent memory. To be ranked in the top 150 is a great accomplishment. A player like Booker would be ranked in the top 75 of last years class. Also if you follow recruiting very closely you will see some wild differences in rankings from list to list. It doesn’t mean one recruiting guru is a lot smarter than another, it just probably means the kids played a lot differently when different people watched them. I would say in this class 80% of the kids in the top 200 will eventually be starters, which is the main goal in recruiting- bringing in kids who can come in and start. And for a reference point think of any kid rated 100 to 200 as kid who in most past years would be top 100.

Good point Jimmy. I forgot the hype with this class. It does not make me feel any better about Tatum though. Where would he had been ranked last year?

I hate to say this but as far as high school ranking, Taum would compare very favorably with Courtney Fells who went you State and was #30 in the class of 2005 by Scout.com…Maybe we can still get him somehow…

Did I miss an article saying he had achieved qualifying grades/scores? If not, then I fail to see how he’ll be @ any 4 year university next year. Unless someone pulls a move like Kentucky did with Jason Parker.

I’m just guessing here - but I bet he goes prep and we’ll have the opportunity to re-recruit him, with no favorite status.

When I said maybe we can still get him somehow, I was referring to him going to prep school and us possible having a shot. Obviously if he gets his score he won’t be here since we have no availible scholarships.

While i think that tatum is going to be an amazing player, Booker is much more needed for his size. Dewhurst and Andersen will not be a slouch, they are two hard working kids who can score, they also are known for their basketball knowledge and leadership. Lee has the starting SG spot for the next two years anyways.
