Best idea I’ve seen from the university to grow spirit and pride. I also noticed on Instagram the #ninerpride is being used by everyone at SOAR.

I like it - good starting point. I would like to see them pull in alumni. I think the most powerful thing for students to buy in is to see alumni who love and give back and are active in the University’s mission. In other words let me on the mic.

This is a fantastic idea, and a good strong piece to the puzzle. Students should feel like they are part of something special, and at a prestigious institution.

Even the few students who get to UNC Charlotte because it is their “backup school” should be made to feel like they made a great choice.

I have a friend who transferred here from UNC-CH and said not only was the curriculum more rigorous, but it was actually taught by professors instead of TAs and he was so happy he did it.

She said the same. She also said she liked going to school here a lot more too.

She came here to do post-bachelors course work to prepare for / meet the minimum requirements for pharmacy school elsewhere.

Also, let’s get this thread back on track. This is something great and I’d hate for this to get derailed.

Sounds like they’re going to have alumni speak, per email from the Provost. More info http://studentconvocation.uncc.edu
I do wonder if students know about this, though. All I’ve seen on social media is confusion about if classes start on Monday (they do, just after 5 PM), no mention of the convocation.

Crap like that does not give others a good impression of our school. It should not happen.

Good crowd. Probably the most students we will have in Halton until vraduation

As a Lee College alumnus who works next door to a donut shop, I endorse this.

And overall, I think this was a great idea. It looks like it was pulled off successfully, and I can imagine this and all future classes knowing that we are not the 49ers because of a highway, and we didn’t wait to start football until Bonnie Cone passed out of respect of her nephew who died playing the sport. Plus, this helps get freshmen engaged from Day 1. Bravo.

Long overdue, but better late than never.
