This is nothing special, we get coverage like this in the Observer all the time. 
Maybe ninermike can do a “study” of Ohio State vs. Dayton coverage in the Dayton Daily News.
To do a full study, it’s has to be OSU, Miami U., and Wright State vs. UD since DDN covers all four of those respective universities, in addition to pro sports in Ohio!

That’s pretty damn good coverage. Take a look at ALL A-10 schools though if you want a direct comparison to us.
Some of us have checked out the other papers. The Cincy paper always gives good coverage. So does the Philly paper. The Richmond paper gives the Spiders excellent coverage. Actually, Run49er often posts the coverage from the opposing team’s paper, just like he did this time. Like I’ve said numerous times, the O has given us better coverage in the past few years too, but it used to be downright awful.
I’ve also checked coverage this year and posted links to other papers several times. Ranked Butler is almost always trumped by Indiana, a solid and now ranked St. Louis squad is almost always trumped by Missouri, VCU and Richmond both have teams that could take care of Virginia this year but are 2nd to Virginia in their hometown paper. We are not without company when it comes to a local team getting trumped by coverage of the “state” school.
The Ohio teams probably get the best coverage of any teams in the league. I do not dispute that their coverage is better than ours.
I believe it was Temple that didn’t even have a preview for our first game with them and the Philly Inquirer just posted a cheesy video of an overweight sports writer talking about the game.
Here’s Scott Fowler’s column from today’s paper. For all you conspiracy theorists, Fowler predicts that the Niners need 23 wins for a bid (including the A-10 tourney games) which is the exact same prediction a certain Niner on this board has been espousing for some time and in pretty much the same words :o
