why does he do that? even my mom who knows nothing about basketball said, "why does he keep taking the guys out...especially the few guys that start playing well?" my response..."thats our coach mom..."We had a relative stay over last night. She doesn't watch a lot of basketball but she has watched enough to realize we stink. It's painfully obvious.
Metro summarized the situation nicely. Sometimes you donāt realize what is missing until its gone. Also, anybody else notice what duo is completely different than last season?
lay off Dew, heās learning on the fly. Harris is a backup pg on any legit team.
a jerk called Gerrity quit this team 2 wks before the season which caused this mess. All Gerrity had to do was quit last June so we could sign a JUCO pgā¦instead he screwed a coach, team, fans, and entire program over.
I hope some of you students let Gerrity know about this every time you see the selfish quitter around campus.

QFT!!
In regard to what metro said I think heās right in that our fans ought to lay off of Dew but I disagree pretty strongly that Harris is a backup point guard on any legit team unless legit means top 10.
He makes some dumb mistakes on occasion but heās a tenacious defender and can create his own shot when he looks for it and can really get out and push the ball. I think you could easily field a winner with him at the point.
I really donāt like the way Bobby treats point guards though. He seems to be to be harder on them than on any other position and heāll yank 'em out after a dumb turnover regardless of how long theyāve been in there. Heās done it all four years Iāve been here and it gets really old when 2 minutes into the game heās pulled the starting point guard out and the announcers are trying to figure out why he would do that as happened last night.

Funny how things work out.
As soon as Gerrity left I made several posts stating he would be a HUGE loss for us because of his playmaking ability and his RARE true PG skills.
I got blasted for arguing that pointā¦and laughed off by many who said that Harris was the better PG and we would be better without Gerrity.
Nowā¦EVERYONE seems to finally see what Iāve known all along.
What is the TRUTH now was the TRUTH thenā¦nobody wanted to hear it. Now everyone is saying it. Funny? Ironic?
Donāt worryā¦I donāt need any apologies.
Viva El Revolution!

To be honest we have no backcourt at all. Still have no outside threat to replace Lee and have absolutely NO PG. Harris has a lot of heart and plays hard but canāt run a half court offense, especially against a team that gets after āitā like Arizona State. Without guard play we will be hard pressed to win 15 games this year. Show me one college basketball team that has been successful without solid guard playā¦

Also⦠Anjaunās game has not surfaced this year. Last year, he was driving and dishing. This year, no one gives him the rock.
Its not all Gerrity, although, I too thought he was a big loss when he āquitā. Remember, last year we didnt have gerrity until the 2nd half of the year. Harris and Lee was all we really had, and we were still pretty darn competitive the 1st half of the season.

Lee could shoot over the zone.
This year, NADA!!!

My point was that we are missing Lee.

Harris is not a starting PG on any top 50 team. I love him, but he has major flaws. Its why no other D1 team signed him. He is a solid backup on a top 50 team.
To be fair to harris, he wasnāt supposed to be a starting PG here. And he knew it. But he was playing well with Lee and was making our offense work better than the guy that should have started here.
Gerrity was supposed to be the man at the PG slot, he just couldnāt handle having a 1 star walk-on steal his minutes. Maybe he should have stepped up his game and not let a walk-on show him up. Dijuan is doing fantastic with what has been put on him. No heās not a great PG that can lead us to the promised land, but I think people got false expectations because he was much better than advertised.
There was a kid in walk-on tryouts who looked really good at PG. Pretty sure he was one of the guys who made it. I know I only saw him for one practice and not against D1 players, but if I we are so screwed up at PG perhaps someone should suggest this to the coaches. The kid was alright. I think he could cover 5-10 minutes.

If youāre talking about Kyle Church, youāre crazy. Heās a good guy, Iām sure. But he has trouble against pressure when he comes in during garbage minutes. He would get annhilated in a real game situation.
Wasnāt there another walk on named Eric something that could dunk? What happened to that kid?

He would get annhilated in a real game situation.Nah, I wasn't joking or anything. During walk-on tryouts this year, I got to watch 1 practice. There was a kid who could play point well. Pretty sure he made it. My understanding is 3 guys made it. Hes a black dude, shortest of the 3.
If Dewhurst is so bad at PG, maybe we could give that kid a shot. I certainly donāt know if he is actually capable since Iāve only seen him once against other people trying out, but it might be worth a shot. I liked the way the kid played. He was my pick out of all the guys trying out.
