For the Total Choice Plus Plus ($59.99), the Rep I talked to said suggested selecting the HD option when you place your order and then get the free DVR receiver upgrade by calling back after the initial order. Intaller would bring out combinaton DVR/HD receiver. Sounds tricky with the timing of it but would save $199 for the cost of the DVR receiver.
She also said you could get HBO instead of Starz and CSTV and ESPNU is included in the Plus Plus ($59.99) package. It’s good for 12 months.
Bundled is with Broadband is either $80 or $85. I’m paying about $116 now comparable services (minus the CSTV, ESPU, all Digital channels).
Of those that have DirecTV, are there any other hidden costs even though it says install and equipment for 4 rooms is free? How much does it go up after the initial 12 months?[/QUOTE]
Are you sure ESPNU is included, you better get that verfied because my mom and stepdad have this same exact package and don’t get ESPNU, If I’m not mistaken the only package ESPNU is offered in is the Total Choice Premier (99.99/month).
BTW I know you can add on the sports pack ($12/month) which is a great value IMO because it has every FSN chanel + 4 Comcast Channels + ESPNU + CSTV + others like the YES and SUN Networks + NBATV.
Note - Almost every X and Dayton game comes on Fox Sports Ohio .
clt had directv and a small antenna to pickup the hd broadcasts from cbs, nbc, abc and fox. this is the best way to get the highest resolution hd and it is free.

I agree clt. BTW you might not want ESPNU/CSTV after todays game. It’s painful to watch this team.
I'm not saying DN is a bad thing but I just find it the least appealing of the satellite options out there, having experience with each of them. If it's your only option, then it's not a bad one to have. But they simply cannot compete with DTV on most levels.
My suggestion: Get DirecTV and then maintain a “life line” with TW for your internet. Most people aren’t aware of it but TW does offer it for people who only want to use them for high speed access and it’s cheap. That’s what I was doing when I had DTV because satellite internet speeds just don’t cut it. And Max is right about the true HD with DTV. TW’s HD is superior as of right now but DTV is in the process of improving their feed.
YES, keep TW internet or go with DSL as a backup. I would never go with satelite internet unless it was my LAST option. Download speeds are decent, but ping times are horrible, can be as bad as dialup. So if you download a large file you won’t notice that much, but browsing on satelite blows because the time it takes to request each file on a web page takes so long as compared to other highspeed. No way around that as it’s just the transport time from your pc to satelite and then back to earth before you ever even hit the internet…
