So, it just saw the new ESPN who’s in college football signing day commercial. The one with all the hats. If you have dvr, watch it in slow motion. Our hat is in there, but you will not believe the hat they chose. All the others are bold colored logos. How does this happen?

Given that outside of the wisconsin hat the other two are indistinguishable schools for most Im fine with charlotte written out. Personally would want to see without the unc charlotte but we are on national signing day stuff as a cusa school on espn( who had a lawsuit from cusa) ill take it.
Of all the hats available how in the world did they come up with that? How did we even get in this commercial? With that said, I am not surprised the hat in the commercial looks about 20 years old. I think I had one like that when I was in school.
This is what I believe possibly happened. ESPN wanted to run the spot with us in it because we are new this year. They either reached out to someone in the AD department and got no response, the school wasn’t getting things done fast enough for the shoot, or they have had issues with the school in the past and figured it would be easier to use one they had permission to use from 1998.
First, I am happy to be included. But I have a feeling this is the attitude of the AD as well and it should not be. My guess is that most of us are more bothered by this than the school. That is the saddest part of it all.
Judging by the # of hats, they seem to have included any Division 1 level football program… Least we could do is make sure we had something representative of our rebranding YEARS ago.
I doubt the school had much input, if any, on what hat was used.
The hat sucks and should not exist, however.

Nice catch Ninercentral, are you a P.I. by any chance? I’ll bet that’s exactly what happened. Fanatics (which I use occasionally) definitely needs to up their Charlotte hat inventory
