Dubois foresees 35,000+ Niners

Just reading this in the Charlotte Business Journal about projections on enrollment at UNC Charlotte:

Current projections call for the campus to grow from 21,000 now to about 28,000 in 2012.

Dubois has previously said he thinks UNC Charlotte’s student population probably needs to be much larger, possibly in the 35,000-plus range.

A 35,000+ student population without a football team?

You beat me to it!
A 35,000+ student population without a football team?
And without its own identity. We would likely be the largest school in the state should we reach that enrollment number, but will still be considered UNC by most of the country that doesn’t know any better.

Should make us the largest school in the country without a football program…
You beat me to it!
We sure seem to think alike.

More evidence we need BOTH now and cannot wait any longer. Time for action Mr. Dubois.

clt points out that george mason is the largest school in va. clt thinks.

I thought we were already the largest public university without a football team.

george mason has almost 30k students.

Not yet… But we’re getting there!

Who has us beat?

Georgia St.

VCU is up there, too.

I thought we were already the largest public university without a football team.

I always wonder why we say largest public school, as if there are any private schools with 20k+ students (and no football team).

We are quickly closing in on the size of the University of Tennessee (at Knoxville):
UT
Enrollment 26,100 (fall '05)
20,100 undergraduate
6,000 graduate
I think we will match them within a couple of years.

i still think the largest school i know about is the University of Texas at Austin (longhorns for those of you who can’t put two and two together). they have like 100,000 plus students from what i have heard.

47,000 actually.

Miami Dade college is the largest college in America with 57,000 students unless you consider university of phoenix-online campus a college. It has 115,000.
