Dubois supports Major
Phil simply put- hates sports. Its a waste if time to him.

So as long as the team is over 500, and out of jail, and fair APR, then all is dandy.

Relevance in market = nothing
And honestly, I’m fine with that from a chancellor. Phil’s #1 priority should be improving our academic programs. His #2 priority should be securing academic donors. Maybe those are are in reverse, I don’t know.

I’m not fine with an athletic director being okay with mediocre across the board.

The only sport we’re good at right now is soccer. We are bad at everything else.

I actually agree with portions of what he said, and if I were Chancellor I almost completely agree. I’m glad someone over there has a set to say something.

At the end of the day, he’s the chancellor. If the coach is not a black eye for the university with academic eligibility and ncaa violations etc, then the chancellor will be okay with what the coach is doing.

Dubois doesn’t need to worry about Halton attendance. There is a $250k/yr director to worry about that. That person is a coward though.
Agreed, glad to see Chancellor Dubois step up and talk about athletics, wish Judy would do the same.

Rose did. Ask him for another interview in a month and you get the same response she gave.

She didnt REALLY have one either/ Tom chased her down and said he talked to her for literally about 60 seconds.

Have no problem with the CHP on this one, Judy, absolutely her job.

Can Judy still fire Major and Dubois say he wasn’t aware of that decision until after his interview? So maybe Dubois trying to put out the fire if Judy may be waiting to fire Major so she doesn’t want to comment at this time. How Involved is Dubois in the firing process? Judy just need to give him a short heads up for approval and money factors? Or if Major fired now would it look real bad on Dubois?

Just thinking what ifs

I think if the Chancellor & the A.D. are so confident in Coach Major, they should agree to fire him if we do not go to the NCAA tournament next year. If they are not confident enough to do that, they should not retain him this year.

The largest NAIA program in America

I want to be mad but all I am is sad at this point. Looking at the body of work as a whole, Alan Major has not done much better. Academic development? Phil Jones. Recruiting? Sure, but who knows how many of our players will transfer out this off season… The dedicated portion of our fan base appears to be a weaponless David against the Phil-Judy-$$$ Goliath. Time for Niner Basketball to look at the flowers…

So how you know what went down?

What Dubois said is very much the same as what Judy said upstairs in her pre UAB game rant/pep talk. I remember her citing specific communications with people thinking the team was trying to lose
to get Major canned, a theory put forward on this board. She said that the team. both coaches and players were not happy with the way things were going , were doing what they could to improve the situation,
and that since we had a few games left we should support them until the end of the season. It was odd in that the people she was talking to WERE the ones supporting since most of them were donors
and all of them were in attendance. BTW, there was nothing insane about her speech.

Oh yea, she also said that UAB had called asking for a change in their practice time here and that we had honored their request only to have them not show up. Former member of Ole Roy’s staff
is their head coach. Enough said.

Well I guess the good news is that I save a couple of hundred bucks by not wasting it on season tix next year.

Gonna be strange not having tix for first time since 2002.

Petition anyone?..Something for the Observer or any publication to get their teeth into.Apparently that’s the only way the fans will be heard.

Why do I get the feeling the folks at the O are more pissed that their requests were turned down than concerned about Charlotte fans?
Again, she should grant an interview.

I have no interest in niner basketball until Major is fired. As I said before when emailing, I will never spend another dollar on niner basketball until Alan Major is gone.

I hope she at least filed a formal complaint of not showing up for the requested gym time with the UAB AD & the CUSA Commissioner. You ask for special time, you show up, a–holes.

I’ve already starting making a list of ways to spend the money I save next year. I also caculated travel money saved. Gas and wear and tear on car. I’m at the point I may not buy tickets until both Rose and Major are gone.

CHP should know that athletics is a key source of obtaining donations for a university, as long as long as donors are happy. When they aren’t happy it can hurt the school.

Just like East Germany, Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, and so on, you don’t have to be DONE with your home(team), you may just have to flee for a while. But eventually, bad leadership is replaced and your home(team) becomes good again.

We thought the same of football too.
