E. Victor Nickerson requests release from Charlotte

From his twitter it says: ā€œHoop session at KSU might be the moveā€.

The ā€œKā€ in KSU stands for Kinnesaw, correct?

Possibly, not 100% sure.

Keep in mind that Nickerson is from GA and has friends that play ball at some of the schools in GA. There have been several times in the past that he has had shoot around sessions at other schools down there.

Good point. Didn’t think about that.

What the F ever. I don’t want kids here who can’t follow rules and/or don’t want to be here. GOOD BYE & good luck to them all that leave.

It seems like his reasons are more academic than sports related based on this thread.

i’d be afraid to base much on this thread.

Fixed that for you.

Sounds like he’s just making plans. If you look over his posts, most of them involve what he’s getting into.

We can’t eat any more Mayfield Ice Cream, & now he’s getting Morehead. :)) UNCC girls need to do their duty to their school.

Really dude? You are an alumni and see it that way? Kinda shortsighted IMHO. You will always have transfers, but we have lost too many last 3 yrs for various reasons. At some point you can’t just say ā€œf themā€ and find the root of it all. It is a staffs job to manage and mentor academics, the partying, and keeping individuals happy on bball part. The Lutz cancer kids excuse is looooong gone.

EVN is a smart kid, mathematics major. Academics not an issue.

Who questioned that…

Who questioned that…
It’s been questioned in the thread and shoutbox, if academics were an issue since he tweeted about needing Calc 2 help. Just stating this move isn’t because of academics.

Well that is both good and bad - glad for Evic that it isn’t academics. I don’t like what that means for the program. A player who was getting plenty of time who had and prob would continue to find starting from time to time, who had grown as a player, who was recruited by this staff decides to leave a program that had looked like it was poised to make noise in the new conference and challenge for a conference title and NCAA bid.

Really curious about what is going on behind closed doors. If he had been at the end of the bench then no big deal, if he hadn’t grown as a player then ok, if we had changed staff no question, if academic situation was bad I understand - but none of those apply here and really none apply to Clark either. So what’s the deal?

So what’s the deal?
The pt issue applies to Clark, I think he saw he was a backup to Clayton, particularly late in the year once Clayton got healthy again. Clark didn’t play much in the last 3 games (2, 5, and 14 min.?). He clearly appeared to be upset about that, even if he was going to get more opportunities next year, and once you get so clearly disgruntled like that, it’s hard to go back to being the happy player like nothing happened.

Nickerson is definitely different. He had more time than you could argue he deserved given his inconsistent play (last three games he got 30, 27, and 34 min.). He hadn’t shot very well, or played well in general in the 4 games leading up to the NIT game with Providence, but he was getting plenty of time. Maybe the coaches somehow let him know he wouldn’t get as much pt once Lester is available (and TWill moves to the small forward spot), but that would be pretty odd given how little depth there is. I would guess something else is going on there, maybe innocuous, or maybe an issue with this staff.

IMO playing Clark so much early really f’d him up. He never had to earn his time in game minutes and was starting over a sr who had proven production. Then as the season went on his mins got cut as he made more mistakes on the court. Just think that process was handled poorly.

I hate losing Clark, EVN leaving isn’t a big loss.

exactly the opposite. e vic has a pretty big upside, a lot bigger than clark. he played great at the end of the season and had a good attitude.
