Eddie Basden v Curtis Withers (This Thursday)

For those of you who haven’t been following Eddie (shame on you) in the D-League, his Austin Toros will be playing their first playoff game against the Dakota Wizards this Thursday at 7:30pm. It should an interesting series as Eddie will be going up against Curtis Withers, who starts for the Wizards.

With Alonzo Gee getting an NBA call up from Washington and now San Antonio, this has allowed Eddie to get more minutes and up his scoring averages. Eddie is averaging 12.6 ppg and 4.4 rpg on the season, however he is averaging 16.8 ppg and 4.8 rpg in his last 6 games and is coming of his best game of the season with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.

You can tell Eddie has been working on his jump shot as he is hitting 40% of his three point field goals this season. Even though he is only averaging a shade over 12 points per game, he never forces the issue and lets the game come to him. Sometimes you wish he would be a bit more aggressive so he gets a better chance at getting an NBA call up, at the same time, that’s what makes him so special. I really hope he gets picked by an NBA team soon. If he keeps playing the way he has been, it might not be too far away.

Anywho, check out Eddie go up against Curtis this Thursday, should be good to see some 49er greats go head to head.

Go Charlotte!!

50,000 miles away and he caught this before some of your ‘fans’.

Thanks 'mate!

anyone know where I can watch this game? TV or internet.

Sorry I should have mentioned. Just go to NBA.com and then click on the D-League link on the top.

You need to sign up for an account, but it’s free and only takes a second. Then you can watch all of the games on there.

Assuming Sunday’s game is in Austin, I look forward to attending. Hope to be able to post some pics.

Game 2 (Sat. at 8:30 EST) and 3 (Sunday 6:00 ET) are in Austin.

Eddie’s team won game one and both of them had 14 point each.

Got back from my camping trip about 5pm and hi-tailed it downtown for the matchup. Walked up just as the 2nd quarter was ending. They gave me a free ticket (sweet) and put me on the front row under the basket. Great seats. They wouldn’t allow flash photography, so all I got was a bunch of crappy photos with my camera phone which I will try to upload later this week. Did get to speak with both Curt and Eddie after the game and got photos with both. Both must have started slow due to the stat lines but picked it up as the game went on. Curt played a lot, but not as much as Eddie. He did well with the minutes he got. Eddie got a lot of minutes, made some good scores and some good assists, but it was Squeaky Johnson’s night. At one point in the game, Eddie fouled Curt as he was driving to the hoop and Curt missed both FTs. Had to laugh at that one.

Curt’s season is now over and depending on what his agent has for him, thinks playing in Puerto Rico is a possibility. Eddie is going to work out for the Bulls again once the season is over. By the way, Eddie thinks he’d like to come back and coach in a few years. If he can get the players to put out his kind of effort, I wouldn’t be opposed.
