1984 was EVH’s pinnacle for his Marshall guitar tone and arguably his chops. Panama is much harder than it seems because of the way EVH can fiercely strike the chords like Malcom Young while backing filling with his percussive bass notes. You have to play it with a relative low gain tube amp that breathes and responds to everything, including mistakes. I get pumped every time I hear the intro and if I can, I turn it to 11

Dance The Night Away was written for wet t shirt contests when the band was playing clubs. And I think it’s about one winner that was getting wild in the back seat in a car outside of the club
Don’t always know whether to believe ol’ Diamond Dave’s version of things, but I’ve heard wilder stories, so probably close to the truth. I’m actually more intrigued about the song being inspired by Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way” than the inebriated dancer with her jeans on backwards! 
Poor Danica. Way past her “15:minutes” when what she said was the last thing most were paying attention to.
