Finally the Appholes can shutup!

This isnt rocket science. You can keep your second half collapses to NC State. I want the runs.
You mean RUN, don’t you? and yes, thats all we’ve done over the last 20 years. One collapse to NCSU. ::)
Sure. They came within a 3 at the buzzer from equaling our 1 and only tourney run. AND it happened after the Carter Administration.
OK Cass, whatever you say. We suck, always have sucked and Davidson is virtually UCLA of the 60s. I’m done.
Well now you’re just being dramatic.

Look man. You get far to defensive about these things. Its perfectly reasonable to love the niners and be disappointed with our lack of tourney success. Its totally possible to love the niners and believe that other teams have had better post season success than we have.

Theres no need for you to get butthurt over this stuff every time.
Seriously, butthurt—how old are you? I’m not “hurt at all”. You seem a little more upset about it. If you truly believe that Davidson (not just “anyone”----many teams have better resumes than ours) has had better post-season success than us, thats your opinion. Just don’t get pissy when not everyone agrees with you.

ok

C’mon guys, stay on topic! Enough with the Observer name change Tarholes CHP Judy’s hair Major’s hair Davidson talk!

I don’t give a shit if we play App or not in football. I had much rather play an established BCS school. I’m all for playing Wake or Duke. Even if we play them at their place, it will be close enough for all of us to go. Not only will those games be winnable, but they will help OUR recruiting, not App’s.

I’m actually kinda surprised we haven’t scheduled something with Wake seeing how Lambert has ties with their AD

Wake doesn’t like playing “lesser” regional opponents. App owns their series with them, and I’m pretty sure ECU does as well. How they got picked way back when to be in the ACC over some other schools is a mystery to me. No offense to anybody who may have a graduate degree from wake or anything like that.

Davidson was offered a spot when the ACC was founded. That should tell you all you need to know.

Do you know of anywhere I could research that? I think that would be very interesting. If you look at wake forest’s athletic history it’s truly nothing to bat an eye at. Before the ACC they were horrible, although they are the only school to win a Baseball National Title while a member of the ACC (fun fact). Just curious as to why they would get chosen?

The ACC was originally only in NC, MD, and SC. It added VA and GA (Georgia Tech).

It stayed in those four states until the 1990’s when FSU was added.

I went to most, if not all of the Wake/App games. I’m pretty sure Wake won most of the games. With that said, App was close in most of them, Wake won a couple off controversial calls. This was App’s “Super Bowl” for a number of those years and their fans filled almost half of Wake’s stadium. The App fans I knew were pissed when Wake stopped playing them and stated Wake was afraid to play them. They were probably correct.

By the way wake plays/played Prebysterian. I would call them a regional lesser opponent. They have also played ECU a number of times, but I don’t think I would consider them “lesser”.

You both have points. If you simply look at NCAA appearances over the past 10 seasons then of course they have us beat. But the fact that they play in the Southern Conf is something you can’t just ignore either.

If during that same time they had played in the Big10 conference instead, they probably never finish in the top half of the conference and would have zero tournament appearances.

By that same logic then Davidson is a better program than Notre Dame because of the Elite 8 season while ND only made the Sweet 16 over the past 10 seasons. Or they’re a better program than Maryland because over the past 10 seasons they’ve made the big dance 5 times while Maryland’s only made it 4 times.

I liked how in the App FB article App said they wanted a game on this side of the state that doesn’t involve Craphole or State. :))
