First Football Town Hall Meeting - Info/clarification

Yep. I’ll probably get some flack for saying something in the shoutbox.

[quote=“NinerWupAss, post:19, topic:24874”]Chancellor Phil Dubois and athletics director Judy Rose will be at the forum, which is scheduled to start at 4 p.m., and is open to the university community and general public.

“We want to reach out to the campus community, as well as the general public, to help answer questions that they might have about the 49ers football program,” Rose said in a statement. “We are aware of the wide-ranging impact this football program will have and we want to hear from those that it will impact. This is their program. It is designed to impact campus life, student spirit, alumni relations and to build a stronger university. To be successful, we need to hear their voices, and this is another great opportunity that is still early in the game.”[left]

And this will be my reply.

The only point I will take exception with in this thread is the knock about members of the AD not wanting to stay past 5:00. They do it all the time for games, and not just the men’s basketball games. I would say that most of the staff is there a couple of nights a week much of the year.

Here’s the press release if anyone cares; it’s the same info. http://www.publicrelations.uncc.edu/default.asp?id=15&objId=748

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- UNC Charlotte Chancellor Dr. Philip Dubois and Charlotte 49ers Director of Athletics Judy Rose will host a Town Hall Meeting, at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 9, on-campus at McKnight Hall to discuss the university’s plans surrounding the 49ers football program, which will begin play in 2013.

A question-and-answer session will be open to the campus community and general public at large.

In addition to Dubois and Rose, chairs of each of the 2013 Kickoff Campaign committees will be on hand to discuss each committee’s undertaking.

“We want to reach out to the campus community, as well as the general public, to help answer questions that they might have about the 49ers football program,” said Rose. “We are aware of the wide-ranging impact this football program will have and we want to hear from those that it will impact. This is their program. It is designed to impact campus life, student spirit, alumni relations and to build a stronger university. To be successful, we need to hear their voices, and this is another great opportunity that is still early in the game.”

Also worth noting is what is NOT mentioned, which is the supposed other meeting that will be at a non-dumb time for a meeting expecting college alumni.

The result of not mentioning another meeting is that logically minded people think we don’t know how to properly organize stuff and are foolish.

Or perhaps they were taking the 49er1 approach to marketing, and it is everyone’s fault for not calling the school to see if there will be another meeting at a sensible time.

If you think the staff is in their offices from 8:00-5:00 every day I’ve got some good property available. However, when many of them are at events, they’re sitting together in a little group and not mingling with the patrons.

There is a little more info on the meeting in Panning For Gold.

All of the comittee chairs will be there to answer questions. I know there is a ‘tailgating’ committee. Anyone know wht other committees there are?

The “tailgating” committee you are referring to is a sub-committee of the Student Affairs Committee.

The other committees are:
Academic Affairs
Business Affairs
External Affairs
Gameday Logistics/Ticketing
Medical Personnel

Is that subcommittee working closely with the gameday logistics committee?

Committees have been tight about sharing notes and relaying questions. There is also a lot of overlap between those two committees (ie, lots of the same members)

49ers Football Town Hall Meeting

UNC Charlotte Chancellor Dr. Philip Dubois and Charlotte 49ers Director of Athletics Judy Rose will host a Town Hall-style meeting, at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 9 on-campus at McKnight Hall to discuss the university’s plans surrounding the 49ers football program, which will begin play in 2013.

Wednesday’s forum is designed to discuss matters with the campus community, in particular, although individuals from outside the campus are welcome to attend. The university does plan to hold additional Town Hall meetings for other constituency groups in order to communicate plans and answer questions. The next such meeting will likely be scheduled in the fall.

Dubois, Rose, and Dan Van Dyke of the Jenkins-Peer Architecture firm will make presentations at Wednesday’s forum. In addition, chairs of the various 2013 Kickoff Campaign committees will be in attendance. Time has been set aside as well for questions and answers following the presentations.

The Charlotte 49ers will be conducting a Live Chat, online, during the forum. Check back to Charlotte49ers.com and uncc.edu to access the Live Chat. Certain questions from the Live Chat will be asked of the participants during the forum. Not all questions submitted to the Live Chat will be answered either online or by the participants due to time and content constraints.

Video of the forum will also be available online.

The best parking option for visitors is Visitor’s Parking atop the Cone Deck, convenient to McKnight Hall.
