Free Throw Idea

Let’s start a free throw distraction that will be original, and hopefully make players from opposing teams miss their shots. Since the wave may have distracted Withers, why not try to do the same to our visitors. Instead of the wave going around the arena, just have the section behind the backboard do the wave vertically. It would start at row A and go up to the top row in the lower level (row J or K) and repeat if needed. I have never seen any student body do this, but it would probably be very effective. This would probably have to be started by the pep band for it to catch on. Since many of them are standing during free throws, they could just throw their arms up and down in the motion of the wave. It’s just an idea for a NINER NATION tradition that will probably have hundreds of schools trying to copy once they see it.

You might wanna try and put butts in those seats before trying anything of that sort.

yeah, they shouldnt be asses and let the students from the upper level come down and fill up the bottom.

what the hell is with the sudden obsession with the overused, outdated, uncreative wave?

As ninerID pointed out in a similar thread…

lets ban something that might make someone actually stand up, might make someone enjoy the game, might unite the students and alumni. I think the wave is gay if nobody does it but can be pretty awesome if everyone is into it.

It would only work if the other endzone was student only.

They should make atleast one endzone all students. I would say take the Alumni and put them behind the band, and then move the Greeks behind the other goal. Then 111, 110 108 106 105 104 would be all students. Also I think they should be stricker with they’re ticketing. Not only reward students who go to games outside of basketball, but also reward students who should up every game. I think if they should heavily tax students who print off their tickets and dont show up. Thats what kills us.

They have been discussing new seating arrangements for next year but nothing has been decided. I am sure that if you have some suggestions for them they’d pay attention. I agree that the endzones need more students, but with the season many of those tickets went unused. If they changed a few lower level sections to GA, we’d probably be able to fill those sections AND get people to come to games earlier.

Hmm… where can you suggest an idea to them?

actually i saw this happen at a texas tech game, and it worked great. It wouldn’t be “our” idea, but I say do it.

Any changes to the seating arrangements are Chancellor or Judy level decisions.

If I were to make any changes I would hope we could make at least one endzone general admission for students and also make heavy penalties for people that request, claim, and don’t come. We also need to let the GA people sit in the lower level if the seats aren’t going to be full.

Changing the seating is a bigger problem then you fools seem to realize. Chancellor Woodward said that when Halton Arena was built that the student body would recieve half of the seats avaiable in Halton. He designed it to be split right down the middle like it is now. It will take an act of God, or something near it from Judy or the athletic department to change. Deal with it; live with it, and now lets move onto another stupid topic on this board!!!please.
