X-Men couldn’t dig themselves out this time! One wouldn’t usually think of a Sweet 16 season as disappointing, but with the expections most had for Xavier this year, things didn’t turn out so well. Guess the fact that they actually made into the Big Dance, much less to Atlanta, says something after the meltdown following the Brawl with Cincy.

Xavier 70
Baylor 75

So that leaves just one Niner opponent still alive in postseason play as UMass meets Stanford in the NIT semis on Tuesday in Madison Square Garden.

I’d say they did pretty well considering what happened. Making the Sweet 16 4 of the last 5 years or whatever is definitely a big deal.

Throw in the fight with UC and the subsequent suspensions that brought “noteriety” on a national level, three home losses (sure, we’d take that!), and the conference opener loss to La Salle, just has to be a downer of a year.

A respectable showing overall by the A10 in post season. Most conferences would love to send 8 teams to post season play.
