Xavier at Charlotte (2 p.m. ET): The Musketeers seem to be in really good shape with an RPI rating in the top 25 and four wins over RPI top-50 opponents (Dayton, Charlotte, Rhode Island and Cincinnati at home). The 49ers really need a signature win after dropping their past two games, by 28 points at Dayton and six points to Duquesne at home. Charlotte has three victories over RPI top-50 foes, defeating Temple (home), Richmond (road) and Louisville (road), but can’t afford many more losses.
UNDER-THE-RADAR: Xavier at Charlotte, Saturday at 2 p.m. ET – Both teams enter the game with an 18-7 overall mark. Chris Mack’s Musketeers are 9-2 in A-10 play, just 1/2 game behind Richmond – while Charlotte is 8-3 in league action and has lost two straight – including a setback at home to Duquesne.
All pre-game stories, etc., have been posted. Nice piece on Andersen by Jim (though he should have noted that Ian’s play won last year’s home tilt with the Musketeers), while Shannon Russell reports that X-man Brad Redford may not play due to a hip injury. And, as usual, fine work by our friends at GTG!
Since Charlotte arrived in the A-10 in the 2005-06 season, the 49ers have finished no higher than fourth in the league standings and have made a pair of National Invitation Tournament appearances.
We finished 2nd to GW in the first season, 05-06 with a 11-5 record.
