GW wants to play football too

The Chronicle of Higher Education recently reported that the University of North Carolina at Charlotte will be getting a football team in 2013, 62 years after the school was founded. GW has a similar undergraduate enrollment and a much larger endowment than UNC-Charlotte, so the announcement got me thinking: Why not us?

I would give my left nut for a name change. Off topic. Sorry. Anyways…

Perhaps someone should tell Rutgers and Princeton to quit making much-a-do about their little get together back in 1869. According to the author of this piece GW had them beat to the gridiron by half a century!

What a Tool!

As much as I like being a trendsetter, I hope our push and success of getting a football team doesnt start a new trend of bringing football to schools. I would hate if the NCAA saw alot of schools starting up all of a sudden and decided to stop it or something…

Eh…they did! The 2011 moratorium was because so many were making the move or the jump up. Not exactly brand new programs but DII moving to DI(FCS) and especially FCS moving up to FBS. South Florida started this latest trend.
