Just an update… they’re doing well so far in Thomasville, 12-3 currently. Will be playing in Gatonia tomorrow evening. The Hi-Toms are in the Coastal Plain League, a summer collegiate league where wooden bats are used.

Gastonia is a neat little park with lots of history and has that feeling like its the 30’s or 40’s. Can you believe on one of the Rangers team there in the 80’s they had Sosa, Juan Gonzalez, Pudge Rod, and Kevin Brown…all on one team.

I played American Legion ball out there a couple times. Thought it was so cool that I was on the same field that all those stars used.
I went to the HiToms game Sunday afternoon and it was pretty good. OB played left but BJ did not pitch, since I think he pitched a couple days prior. OB put down a NICE bunt single and made some good defensive plays. Hit a couple pretty hard but they were right at guys.
Their team is pretty good though. Have a kid from Catawba, David Thomas who’s playing well, couple guys from Wake, like 5 guys from Ole Miss, etc. Really solid team. Fun to watch. I highly recommend a game…

It’s neat to say you saw them when…
I can remember Jeter, Mattingly, Pettitte and Schilling playing in Greensboro. Jeter was an error machine every game, but a couple of years later he’s big time. Unfortunately, since the Grasshoppers are a low Class A franchise, very few will get to the big leagues.
