Hate Thread

So, I look through here and I see multiple hate threads about “It’s Bobby’s fault” “it’s Leemire’s fault” whatever.

shut up people.

you should all be “benched” and should sit right next to Leemire, since you all want him on the bench. Yes, we go on a two game slide, let’s fix it by sitting our leading scorers. I don’t care if I piss you guys off for standing by my team, because many of you have proven that your opinion doesn’t really matter much to me. I’ve seen lots of nmes in these threads that makes me just want to say “who are you?”

Posts like many of yours are an embarrassment to this board and the Charlotte fanbase.

So here we go, let the deluge of posts calling me an idiot begin. But I’ve said my peice.

If you’re one of those who have defended Bobby, and Leemire, and the rest of the team, thank you. You are the real Niner Nation.

Is anything anyone’s fault anymore?

This thread is a Bandwagon.

Blame it on me, ID. I can handle it.

gotta stand by the team through good and bad. Jumping all over Lee or Bobby isn’t going to change the result of whats already happened. Now I understand that people often feel the need to vent but there have been some on the board that have overreacted after last night. Lets look onto the next game and just root for a better result.

Action, let me be the first to say it. Should the 49ers lose to Saint Bonaventure on Saturday, there aren’t enough doctors, nurses, EMS personnel and police available in Mecklenburg County to prevent mass suicides.

True I agree with you here. but still If people just point out the obvious fact that Lee was just jacking 3s last night and might’ve needed a benching to get his attention I, for one, don’t see a problem with that.
-Apparently Bobby didn’t however…

I don’t think you abandon the team but it’s unrealistic to expect people not to complain after two straight losses in games that we were more then able to win. Players shooting too many shots and taking bad shots are going to get talked about by fans, it’s up to the coach to correct these mistakes. I don’t support topics attacking a player but if someone is disatisfied with now two straight games and feels coaching plays into it, they have the right to point it out.

This idea that Lutz benching Leemire would destory his confidence is unfounded. I think Leemire is smart enough that a bench for shooting bad shots would get his attention.

The last two losses hurt but they also hopefully get people to realize that this team is very INCONSISTANT and most likely an NIT team and not an NCAA team, which for the youth of this team, isn’t bad. Some of us got used to making the NCAA’s every year and are having to adjust their expectations, I know I am. Times have changed and we’re in a different conference. I remain on the fence about the Lutz extension personally, but I do feel that he met the expectations the University has asked of him to get that extension and will get the extension.

What exactly were those expectations? Losses to multiple sub-150 rpi teams, and maybe 1 really good win?(Clemson)…And when exactly was it we were going to the NCAA’S every year? Yeah, let’s lower our expectations enough so that we’re ecatatic when we sneak into the NCAA’S and get knocked out in the first round! And you wonder why ACC teams look down their noses at us?

I agree with that. to go back to the first persons post, just because you don’t recognize some of the names on here, does that mean they dont have valid points? Thats stupid.

Last year was the first time I believe since Lutz has been here that we had back to back seasons of no NCAA berth. During my time as a student at Charlotte we made postseason 3 out of 4 years including two NCAA berths. We’re not the program we were in Conference USA, it took me a while to accept that. We’re paying for recruiting that dropped off at first when we moved to the A-10.

My guess is those expectations were improvement, which is what we’ve seen this season, beating Davidson, Southern Illinois, Wake Forest, and Clemson was substantial improvement and I believe met the expectations of Phil and Judy, based on the youth of the team. As far as your quote about expectations being lowered, they have been lowered and it’s beend discussed on here several times and we’ve heard every possible excuse rather it’s the A-10, Bobby’s coaching, Phil’s support of the program, $$, press coverage. My hope is that we work back to where we were in CUSA and hopefully can move to another conference after we have football for a while.

I agree with your statement…well said. Everyone has the answer but the bottom line is that it is hard to play in this conference that has cracker-box gyms and try and tell the kids to get up for playing teams like DAYTON, ST. BON., RHODE ISLAND, and the huge powerhouse of ST. JOES, etc…that is why we lose on the road…not bobby or any of the players…

I would hope that wasn’t the cause of last night. Dayton was in the top 25 till just a few weeks ago and is high on the RPI. If we lose to St. Bon this weekend, will that be the reason? We couldn’t get the players up for the game? I see what you’re saying ninerdad, and I think sometimes that’s true but if this team wants to play in postseason play, they better “get up” for these conference games.

Sad to read posts above saying if you question Leemire or Bobby, you’re not part of the “Real Niner Nation.”

IMHO there are quite a few games left. At the beginning of the season who could honestly think we would own this kind of record. We’re still in it and still shooting for the tournament. Dust off the dancing shoes and get ready.

You only get partial credit there. Half of the schools have buildings as large/larger than Barnhardt/Halton. Attendance last night was announced at 12,110, which was down from their average attendance of 12,636.

Dayton, UD Arena - 13,266 (avg 12636, 95%)
Massachusetts, Mullins Center - 9,493 (avg 4,954, 53%)
Rhode Island, Ryan Center - 7,657 (avg 5,459, 71%)
Richmond, Robins Center - 9,071 (avg 4,265, 47%)
Saint Louis, Scottrade Center - 20,000 (avg 8,651, 43%), SLU is in the 10,600 seat Chaifetz Arena next season
Temple, Liacouras Center - 10,206 (avg 6,779, 66%)
Xavier, Cintas Center - 10,250 (avg 9,933, 97%)

Duquesne, Paulumbo Center - 5,358 (avg 2,954, 55%)
Fordham, Rose Hill Gym - 3,200 (avg 2,064, 65%)

Have you ever been to St. Louis??? It is the worlds worst place to play a basketball game. I understand what you are saying, but the bottom line is we have to play. I have a clue on why Lee is struggling. Bobby and his staff have milked him for about all he is worth. Look at it like this. Here’s a 5’11 shooting guard, key word shooting guard…most 5’11 are fast PGS, running off 50-75 picks every game, taking elbows by every 6’8 guy on the court, being held/stratched/clawed/beaten to death, and then has a hand in his face on every shot. He has to work for every point/shot he gets off…I think he is just worn out. That is asking a ton from any shooting guard, especially one who is undersized. He’s in a slump and its time for Mack, Garrity, Coley, and Ian to step up and be leaders. But I think Bobby is smart enough to know that Lee is tired and will find him more minutes on the bench…be patient and Lee will be back to form in time for a push through conference tournament time. I still think A-10 gets 5 teams this year…

HP, thanks for squashing that myth. Also need to mention that St. Joe’s plays a number of their home games at the 8,000+ seat Palestra. In fact, the Hawks will play ALL of their home games there in 08-09 while Alumni is expanded and renovated. It will be renamed Hagan Arena for SJU alumnus Michael J. Hagan when it re-opens, as he donated $10 million for the project.

Dude, it’s a message board for people to express opinions. If mine differs from yours, I at least respect your opinion and don’t tell you to shut up. I don’t even think you’re an idiot.

Just because some of us think that Leemire needs to be reigned in if he’s shooting awful shots in bad situations, that doesn’t mean we want him kicked of the team. Should he have been benched for a while last night or against Richmond? If Lutz was telling him to quit taking bad shots and he didn’t, sure he should ride the pine for a while.

I like Lutz as well, but his late game tactics baffle the hell out me. Their two inside guys foul out and 7 of our last 10 shots were 3’s. That’s gotta make you question something.

I support the program, players and coaches. That doesn’t mean they are above a little criticism from time to time. If we play great, I’ll say so. If we stink it up like the last 7 minutes last night, I think the constitution gives me the right.

I hate losing.
