I don’t know if any of you have heard but the hornets are upgrading the video boards in the Cable Box. I think this would be a nice opportunity for us to upgrade our technology in Halton by buying the used ones from the Hornets that was formerly the largest in the NBA. Does anyone know if this could be a possibility? After all Halton in definitely beginning to show its age and could use some upgrades! Here’s a link for the new hornets board by the way: http://www.nba.com/hornets/hornets-introduce-new-scoreboard-design
It was mentioned somewhere else on here. The Hornets video boards would be too big for Halton, and they’re actually repurposing them in the corners of TWC arena anyway.
I thought I saw someone on here say that it may be in the works for us to get a new video board. I may be wrong. A new video board would be great for Charlotte, our board was nice 8-10 years ago, but looks a bit dated to me now.
Ahh makes sense. I didn’t realize they were reusing them in TWC… I guess that place will be pretty nice with all of those video boards everywhere. Either way I think it’s about time for us to update with some hi def video boards on the hanging board along with some screens on the blank corners where the retired numbers used to hang.
clt says the taxpayers of Charlotte should decide where the boards go.

I know $ is the driver of everything but I’d like to see something in the two big blank corners of Halton. Ideally video boards. Maybe if we used those boards to run advertisements it would help cover the cost. There are a lot of upgrades I’d like to see done in Halton but there again it’s all about the $ again.
A lot of programs are wrapping blank space like those corners with adhesive murals they can update every 8-10 years. We already have some of those on the walls leading out to the food court area. They aren’t cheap though.
I worry about too many large video boards being a distraction, but that’s the rage now, and they’re getting cheaper.
Maybe if we ever get new video board/s we could actually have one replay per game?

I think it would look great to wrap some of the blank surfaces in Halton. The Hornets have wrapped a lot of the surfaces in TWC Arena and it adds a lot of color and brightens up the place.
clt says the Charlotte taxpayers should get a refund.
I don’t think people in sections like 203-205 would be able to see boards where the jerseys used to hang. At least it looks that way from my seats.
So, I would like to see us do mural wraps for the blank corners, and an upgrade to our scoreboard. I don’t know the cost, but the one at Bojangles Coliseum is nice and would fit (similar size arena):
Bojangles arena got 16 million in upgrades, but they replaced all the seats, so I have to imagine that was a big chunk of the cost.
I think when La Tech and UNT got new scoreboards in the last 2 years, they spent around a million dollars on them.
