I am watching the Top 25 Buzzer Beaters of th NCAA tourney or something on ESPN Classic and it reminded me of the highlight reel before our games. There is one clip of a guy on UCONN’s floor hitting a game winning three. Is that in the NCAA tourney or are we playing UCONN? who shot it, when was it?

I am assuming you are referring to Diego Guevara’s 3-pointer which sent the game into overtime against UNC-Chapel Hill on March 14, 1998.

That was one of the best moments in Niner basketball history - Diego over Antwan Jamison… for threeeeeeeeeeee!

That shot cost me $200. I had Charlotte and 10 that night. If recall correctly, that shot put it into OT and we lost by 10 and I pushed.
But, I did go nuts when it went.
A Tar Heel buddy of mine was driving down I40 during that game. He told me he had to pull off to the side of the road after that shot.

My Tarheel buddy told me before the game that if Charlotte won that he would run up and down I85 butt naked. He was getting really nervous when Diego sent it to OT.

I watched that game with my exgirlfriend in Chapel Hill. She was a student there. Needless to say I wasn’t the most popular guy in that apartment complex after Diego hit that shot.
When and why did Diego change from number 21 to number 22? His bobblehead has 21 on the front, but he was 22 for most of the time I can remember…
