The third one they sent him finally worked and is working fine for him. Still its a lot of trouble to deal with - and if you crack the thing open your warantee is gone...
The ones I worked on, it was a pain to try to get them to honor the warranty. 30 minutes and 30 dollars was easier for us than haggling with Apple.

it is also really easy to fix the battery issues to if you void the warranty. you just have to be careful and have a general idea what you are doing.
I’m happy with my Zune, its great. I still have like 2/3 of the memory left with the 1st season of Heroes and The Office + the wake game, several music videos and the UFC fight between Chuck Liddell and Rampage Jackson. Picture quality is pretty good, some videos are clear(Heroes) while some are so bad you cant really tell whats going on(Charlotte vs Wake)
Wow, I bet the Rampage/Liddell fight took up all of .0003 gigs of space, considering how long it lasted.
Edit:
Someone beat me to the punch, I should have read the entire thread before posting.
Got my 30gb zune for $90, Zune wins…
same here.
never had an ipod, have used friends but never owned one. like the zune, i don’t get to use it much but when i do it’s been fine.
only downside is the headphones (from the orginal zune 30gb, i didn’t like them) and that you have to use Windows to sync it up (it won’t just act as an external drive).
Bought my Zune yesterday… thus far I’m VERY pleased with it. The Software was difficult at first, but thats simply becuase I’ve been using iTunes the last several years - once I got it figured out it wasnt too bad - but still leaves a lot of room for improvement.
The Zune overall is amazing. I got a 30g which I figure will be plenty of space to put everything on that I actually listen to… By far the coolest thing in my opinion is the fact that I can set the background to be whatever I want, where my old ipod woudl only let me use the white background. Its also cool when you play cds because the album cover pops up really large on the screen.
I’m a real stickler for functionality and clean presentation - and the zune definately has it. I’m impressed.
I love my Creative Zen M… its about 3 years old now and Creative has developed the Creative Zen which is even better. Be sure to check it out as you are researching players. iPods are cool, but iTunes sucks.
I have a Zen vision M as well and I really enjoy it. It’s probably a bit bigger than most MP3 players today but it works like a champ. I haven’t watched any videos on it but it had the most color combinations at the time, not to mention it won the Cnet award for best in show when it came out.
I got a Zune from Woot for 85 bucks. It has treated me pretty good. Had a problem with it and customer service was descent. Had to send it in and get a new one too but not too big of a hassle with it. I don’t use it everyday but it was great when I had to go to NY for work. The software definitely could be better.
