Ok guys. I know weâre all big fans, but please, PLEASE, nobody go and watch his games and chant his name. That would just be wierd. Also, letâs not waste posts on eighth graders. I may be alone here, but this is kinda ridiculous.
During a teacher workday recently I visited my best friend, who is in her first year teaching at Cannon. I saw that kid in the hallway and she told me who he was - he was HUGE! Pretty hard to believe heâs a 9th grader. She went to Charlotte, so I told her to put in a good word for the Niners.
Per Jim Utter, he was at last nightâs (3/6/08) win over GW:
On hand making an unofficial visit at Charlotte was 6-foot-7, 210-pound sophomore forward Jarell Eddie, who plays at the Cannon School in Concord. Eddie, who has also made unofficial visits to N.C. State, Clemson and Wake Forest, among others, has been ranked consistently by recruiting services as one of the top 25 sophomores in North Carolina.
Concord High has a 7 footer that is a sophmore this year. Iâve seen him play in person several times at the Sportscenter in Concord. He has already had visits from Kentucky and I think hes already visited Wake Forest. As big as he is, hes was still on the JV team this year. He has a lot of work to do to get to the college level. Most people are saying that he grew up way too fast.
The 6-foot-6, 210-pound forward did majority of his work from mid-range. In his last camp game he drained a pair of 17-foot jumpers and also buried a one-dribble pull-up from three. Eddie is known as a tweener forward, but Saturday he definitely showed an ability to play facing the basket.
I was talking to a guy at the airport recently who's a janitor at Cannon School. He said he'd put in a good word for us.
Jarell visited campus a couple days ago according to Ninerreport.com. He got a tour of the facilities and got to talk with coach Lutz. He said he really likes the coaches and facilities. We havenât offered yet (why havenât we!?), he does have offers from Miami, Clemson, Georgia, and Va Tech.
I agree. We still do well with local players, but not the bigtime ones. Dewhurst, Harris, Barnett, Coleman, etc are all local guys that we have landed, but itâs the bigtime talent like Jerrell that we always seem to miss out on. Withers was the last local guy we landed that was a consensus top 75 guy.
