clt bets that little bldg is a data centre
Or a jail !
I am guessing additional restrooms for the extra people we will be able to accommodate. Depending on the game lines can be long already.
I’m guessing it will be an expanded Norm’s Tavern & team store that will be open year round….
I’m going to be boring and guess they tear it down post construction and it’s just a stopgap building while that half of the concourse is close
Maybe. When the season starts and fans come into the stadium, it will need to be made safe in and around the construction area.
It’s clearly going to be the Thunderdome.
My son went to football camp Friday and I was able to snap some pics. I couldn’t get too close since they had it roped off.
There is a totally different feel to the stadium now. I can wait until it’s completed.
It’s not “real” till we start seeing that sweet, sweet Morricroft Special going on.
We are glad to hear that you “can” wait until it opens lol
Thanks for the pix. Looks like some progress is actually being made.
Thanks Mr Bojangles! Awesome picture!!!
The ladies will be supper excited to have another shithouse.
Great pictures! Excited to see this in person in a couple of months. This will definitley calm the mockers of our “high school” stadium.
Can you give us the 411 on what the Morrowcroft Special is?
IIRC that’s the shade of brick we use on our campus but what’s the history on it? Where does it get made? Is it locally sourced? Any special significance to it? Etc.
Special Morrocroft Brick (UNC Charlotte)
- The Look: Unlike traditional tumbled or flash-fired bricks, Special Morrocroft is uniform in bright color with exceptionally clean, crisp edges. [1]
- Exclusivity: This specific style (often listed as #02-79-1) is proprietary to UNC Charlotte and cannot be found on any other campus or private home. [1, 2]
- The Manufacturer: It is manufactured locally in the Charlotte region by Hanson Brick at a plant in Monroe, NC.
Thanks
Not sure where the Hanson brick is manufactured now. UK-based Hanson plc was acquired by German conglomerate HeidelbergCement in 2007. HC then sold its Hanson division to US private equity firm Lone Star Funds in 2015, which rebranded Hanson as Forterra. Latter acquired by Quikrete Holdings in 2022. The Hanson brick manufacturing plant off of US 74 in Monroe is no longer in operation.
BTW, also not sure if the brick is still referred to as “Morrocroft” given Cameron Morrison’s prominent role as a white supremacist in NC.
