How do you think his game would fit into Lutz’s system? He shoots the 3 ball at over 40% and leads the #17 CU Tigers in scoring at 14+ppg. Would you trade Leemire for KC or are you happy w/ the current guard rotaion?
A Rivers/Curry back court would look mighty good for the next three years. How did Rivers’ recuritment play out? Did Lutz offer? Did KC make a courtesy official visit similar to Morrow, w/ no true intentions of coming? If Charlotte could sure up there local talent there would not have to be this heavy reliance on JUCO players.

My 2 cents.
Lutz to KC: “You come here and you will play against Dukane, St. Joe’s, and St. Bonaventure. Every 3 years due to having to play 2:1 we will have a good home OOC schedule. In the fall, on weekends, you can go back home to your parents because you won’t really have much to do, unless you love volleyball”
Clemson to KC: " We play Duke, We play UNC, We play GT, We are adding miami, BC and VT and because we are acc, we don’t leave home in OOC. Students and alumni are just insane about Clemson, on the weekends you can go to football games where you will get to hang out with friends and be a top dog as a basketball player where, have you SEEN the scenery around here? (Hiding the fact you might not sniff the floor)"
Wasn’t KC Rivers Byron Dinkin’s cousin? (nephew?)
I’m pretty sure he was his nephew and had been coming to games since he was a kid. I think we had (unofficially) offered him when he was in like the 9th grade but he always wanted to play in the ACC. If we had made the jump to the Big East he’d still most likelly be at Clemson.
This is a good thread to pull out and remind people how hard it is to recruit here. You can blame Lutz all you want for our current situation, but I don’t envy him.
Does Charlotte have a history of going after recurits out of the “league” and being dissapointed? There are some many talented players in not only NC, but throughout the Northeast that are going undiscovered, Charlotte should be able to land players due to the newness of Halton and the fact Charlotte has an NBA team.
Taylot Coppenrath from Vermont, Morris Almond at Rice, I could name tons of players that were not high major recurits that can play. Charlotte has taken a step back w/ their conference affiliation and that has hurt recuriting. St. Joe’s had their duo of J. Nelson and D West that carried them to a few NCAAs.
Does Charlotte need better talent evaluators on their staff?
No we just need a coach that cares and has his heart into Charlotte.
that could be one of the dumbest posts I’ve ever read. Bobby is full of passion and pride for this school and program.

Actually, the Charlotte staff is well regarded as great evaluators - our problem is that even though we find them early they usually blow up before their senior year and decide to go a bigger conference (yes, this happened in our CUSA days too). There’s another thread around here somewhere (maybe in the recruits forum?) that shows all the players we had that we lost out on after they became more recognized by other scouts. We used to get a couple of these and miss out on more but lately it seems like we may be missing on all of them.

I saw that list and it seemed to me to be a list of “hopefuls” instead a list of “playes Charlotte missed on”. Nolan Smith, Jason Parker, Jeff Mcinnis were all not likely to come to Charlotte. I know the Mike Beasley situation has left a bad recuriting taste with Charlotte fans.

Maybe that’s what it was instead, I couldn’t remember. Here are some we missed on;
In college or post college;
Demarr Johnson
Von Wafer
Ish Smith
Lazar Hayward
Alonzo Gee
Travis Garrison
Anthony Morrow
Rajon Rondo
Yet to play in college;
Demontez Stitt
Tony Neysmith
Terrence Olgesby
Cameron Tatum (say what you will about Dalonte - IMO he left because better offers started coming in)
Yes, these are all players that we had locked until they had a couple good games or played well in a big tourney and started getting offers from BCS conference schools. And I’m sure I’m leaving off plenty.
P.S. - Oh yea, that Mike guy too, can’t remember his last name though…
So you can tell me with a straight face that Charlotte was close to landing Rajon Rondo, Ish Smith or Von Wafer. I thought Wafer was considering jumping straigh to the league from high school.

Would it work better for you if we wrote it in crayon?

YES. In fact, we were Rondo’s #1 choice for a pretty long time. Wafer was locked up until literally the last second. Ish on the other hand just had his mind set on the ACC.

We were the first in home visit for Rondo and Neo actually came on the board and said it looked good. Smith I am not sure on but Wafer was a done deal and even had him set up in a prep school and just waiting on signature. Hamilton got the job at FSU and Wafer left in the middle of the night from the prep school without anyone knowing where he was for 3 or 4 days. Next time anyone sees him he is enrolling in a FSU prep feeder school. That has to be as strange of one as we have had happen of course everything is second to Kareem Johnson dropping us for Cincy when one of Cincy players was kicked off the team for torturing his roommate. Classic.
