Kenny Gabriel - 2008 SF

According to the Shoutbox last night Jim Utter said Kenny Gabriel was in attendence. Plays for Hope Christian in Kings Mountiain.

Usual suspects recruiting him. Wake’s not on his rivals list, but according to a Scout.com article he was going to visit.

I didn’t see Charlotte listed in either…

Charlotte just started recruiting him. He was waving green and white balloons after the game, I’m sure the 49ers will be added to his list shortly.

Before the game I saw Bobby Kummer talking to him and his parents. They were sitting on the front row on the right side of the tunnel beside the Niner’s bench.

new artilcle on scout about him, i don’t have scout so i can’t tell you much, maybe someone else can. We have offered.

“Coach Prosser said he needs to come watch me play a little bit more and then I think I can get that scholarship from Wake Forest.

“I took a tour of the campus and I got to play some one-on-one with Ishmael Smith. He worked me to death. We grew up together and have known each other since we were little.” Gabriel is still in the beginning stage of the recruiting process and will not make a decision soon.

Sounds like we’re in good position for him…the 12 other 6’6"/6’7" SFs on our roster can breathe easy.

Someone’s visiting this weekend but I don’t think it’s him.

Do we have any idea yet who the mystery visitor was? I’m hoping Collins, Coley, or McClain.

you can mark McClain off that list. he narrowed it down to his top four. UConn, Cincy and two others we aren’t even on it.

Seriously, maybe we can find 6’7" quintuplets in the future and start them all, just think how confusing it would be to the other team…

I think Stanford is working on that now.

Listed now and states that we have offered…

According to Scout, supposedly visited Clemson last weekend.

Dax, or Lefty, why are we after a small forward for 2008 if we get Coley? Unless he’s a future NBA All-star, shouldn’t we concentrate on other positions than the 3?

my personal opinion: a lot of these guys we have are combo forwards. they have the ability to play bigger than they actually are.

Anjuan Wilderness - Athletic and quick which allows him to be a good defender against the 3 or 4. Good Rebounder. Lutz also said he has a great BBall IQ.
Mack - Is 6’7 and strong and he’s also a combo forward. Good Rebounder.

Coley has mad hops which makes him seem bigger than he is at times. I’d assume he has decent shot blocking.

Dewhurst is 6’5 but from what i’ve seen plays like he is 6’7 ot 6’8. GREAT rebounder.

All of these guys are solid players. Also note we specialize in getting good SF’s.

we’re recruiting athletic players over size. personally, i prefer it. you might be out rebounded but you can hustle, tire out the bigger players, make them commit sloppy fouls, and score easily when you drive on them. it works. plus we have a 6’10.5 guy to make up for a couple of inches on the other guys.

I like it too, It has worked for GW the past two years (although Pops was a beast).

Looks like Illinois is interested. Looks at the length of his arms- I wonder what his wing span is? I really hope we get this guy…
