Lamar Post-Game

I think Lamar has four guys that start for our team. Lamb, Harper, Miles, and Osas.
Three seniors and a soph in the big shot blocker.

Braswell would be the only one starting from our line-up. JB would lose his position to Braz. Maybe Demario would get the nod, but that’s it.

Green would be the sixth man and would get time if he was on.

Chalk this up as one of the worst loses since I’ve been following the team.

Lamar? Seriously? By 18 points? Wow…new level of embarrassment.

Not even the most avid college fan has ever heard of Lamar, yet we get waxed by them.

It’s like arguing with women.

All emotion and little thought.

It was a bad game nonetheless, but we are in a rebuilding stage, and Lamar was more experienced and ready to play. We must find chemistry on the court, we just look like a bunch of individuals right now. Guys are trying to find themselves and there role on team. I’m not saying we should have lost, but you must look at the game in its entirety, there have been alot of upsets already. We must go back to drawing board, and fix these problems, because Tuesday doesn’t get easier.

Was asking the same question in the shout box earlier.
Because THAT is EXACTLY they way UNC-Chapel Hill thinks and operates and frankly, I think it sucks.

It’s my hope one day, when we are back to year-after-year postseason consideration, that Charlotte NEVER treats schools from smaller conferences this way.

Really? You must not have been at Halton the night we posted 9 points in the first half against Miss St? It was almost 6 save the 3-pointer by Leemire with 30 seconds left.

For all of the people asking how we get people in the Charlotte area to follow Niner spots: Don’t lose to Lamar.

You’ll never have casual fans with results like this. Scheduling them is bad enough on its own; losing to them is even worse.

Braz is our best player by a long shot, and that was clearly evident today. Pitiful display of basketball out there today. We have no one inside behind Braswell, no one. Thorne and Ivankovic are 5 minute filler guys at best this season. Might as well redshirt Thorne, he needs a lot of development time.

Pretty embarassing, but definately not our worst loss ever. I would say we’ve picked up 2 or 3 equally embarrasing losses in each of the last several seasons. Bras being out didnt help, but lets not overlook the fact tha Lamar was playing without their leading scorer from last year, a guy who put up 52 points in one game no less.
I still think about half of our roster isnt even D-1 worthy, so i’m not expecting even 15 wins. Let’s just aim for making the A-10 Tourney this year, thats probably more realistic. And for those of you defending the loss with the “Lamar is just the better team” excuse, you are actually making the strongest statement for how terrible we have become. We were dominated in every facet of the game.
We looked today, as we have looked for the last 50 games, like a bunch of ass clowns who would be lucky to be walk-on’s on our teams from the 90’s. However, they are our ass clowns and I will watch them, and cheer for them even if it makes my eyes bleed!

Severe over-reaction…Lamar probably isn’t really better than us on a neutral court and when our best player is playing. The guy they played without is NOT their best player. Braz is our leading scorer and rebounder. We were outrebounded 52-28 (approximately). Anyone who can’t see that is a HUUUUUUGE reason for the loss is just looking to be as negative as possible.

In short, when everyone (esp. Braz) is playing we’ll be fine. I expect a 16-19 win NIT caliber season.

i totally disagree. i hate when people say “isnt d1 worthy”. the level of talent is not the problem. they are just not polished. dont get me wrong, this loss is an embarrassment. are you saying nickerson doesnt have talent. we recruit at a higher level than a lot of high major schools. with the exception of ivankovic, who is terrible, we are a very talented team. there is no ian andersen, someone who you say, “i like the kid but he doesnt belong at this level”. im trying to stay positive. i want to see how we play on tuesday. what doesnt make me happy is kj’s facebook status saying “we took the l but life goes on”. sorry kj but its not that simple. to lose to a bad team is one thing. plenty of good programs do it a year but to simply get doubled up in rebounding to lamar or any team is horrible. i hope major, braswell and whoever else feels they need to, layes into the team like never before. its gut check time.

Why is Briscoe not playing, how do you lose confidence in a player so fast, he has great potential to be a very good point guard, size doesn’t matter. If you look at stats nobody else is doing that much better. He is a proven player, I played against him everyday in practice he can produce for this team, I don’t understand that, he is only playing “HIS GUYS” . Briscoe has played a total of 13minutes in 2 games, WHY? Nobody is perfect, everybody makes mistakes in games, but when u make them and get took out it messes with your mental. I want the best for them, and all the players I played with and saw workout the entire time I was there in summer. No reason we lose to Lamar without braz. We are a better program than that, we must show that though because nobody cares who you are or what conference you in. In order to step up to the xaviers and temple you must start taking care of games like this. It starts now though, stop putting off till next year, make changes now.

If we agree with you Aloha, it is admitting that our players are not very good. No way to overcome that so we find something else to blame it on.

totally disagree. the problem isnt the talent level. its the level of effort and intelligence.

I agree with you. I’ve been wondering this all season. I think Henry has played fine, but he’s not exactly lighting it up in the scoring column and he’s had plenty of turnovers as well. I understand Briscoe getting less minutes this season, but not playing 13 minutes in the last two games. I was blown away today that we were having such issues scoring the ball yet Briscoe was left rotting on the bench.

Not sure how much to read from this game. I don’t think any of the players looked like they had even a mediocre game by their standards (maybe Sherrill?), so I’m a little surprised the margin wasn’t greater, though that’s probably a testament to how bad Lamar is. Aside from Green heating up for a bit, seemed like no one could hit anything from 10+ feet, including free throws. Just an awful game. I really hope this was an anomaly and not the norm for this year, or it will be as bad as last year.

There are a ton of guys playing lots of minutes that are new, but I’m really disappointed that our upperclassmen aren’t playing better so far (though Barnett had his moments in earlier games). Green, Briscoe, Sherrill, Mayfield, Barnett have all played enough minutes in D1 to not play like this. I still like the potential of the young players, but for this year to be decent, we need for those four to step it up along with Braswell.

I agree about Briscoe. Granted, he looked out of sorts when he came in, almost every play he risked a turnover and didn’t hit a shot. He really hasn’t looked like the same player as last year so far. But would have been worth a try when our offense continued to flounder in the 2nd half. Not sure what’s going on there.

Yes, I just feel that he needs a shot, and enough time to get in the flow of the game, when you are a player that knows your ability but you are not getting an opportunity it kills your confidence and when you do play you always think entirely to much instead of just playing how you know. I’m not saying he should okay entire game, but give him a shot to get his feet wet before snatching him, we will need his production this year if we really want to be a threat in a10, who else will give you that scoring punch off bench?
who else will give you that scoring punch off bench?
Luka looked pretty decent today on offense. Hopefully it wasn’t just due to the opponent.
