Liberty to FBS in 2019

They were given a waiver.
Why and how?
probably claimed they were being discriminated against because of their religious beliefs. Doubt NCAA wanted to take that fight to court.

:)) :)) :))

Per the release:

The NCAA waiver approval was based upon Liberty providing substantial information demonstrating its readiness to begin the reclassification process, Liberty’s ability to follow current FBS institutions who have demonstrated viability without a conference affiliation and the university’s ability to satisfy FBS requirements.

So basically they got a waiver by doing their homework.

It’s an hour (at most) from me.

Let’s make it happen.

Does Liberty have their own TV network like BYU? Also, by being independent they could sell their own TV rights.

I wish we could have signed up for this deal $1.32 million to play at Liberty :o .

Flames.

Putting the Lords money to good use. Would happily take Jerry Jr’s million dollars to play there.

Trying to buy their way into FBS legitimacy.

It’s fine if you don’t have a problem with anything they do or say, but I suspect some programs might.

I disagree with plenty of things they do and say, but it isn’t like they are the University of Syria…or UNC-CH, and we are going to play them soon.

We’ve played Liberty in Olympic sports before. I have no problem playing them in football especially if they are writing P5 level body bag checks. I feel we can beat them and get paid. I personally don’t agree with certain things that come out of Cal Berkeley but have no problem playing them either.

It’s Athletics. I retreat to athletics to get away from politics and the like. I have no problem playing them.

Liberty already has nicer football facilities than Charlotte - $$$ talks in the FBS.

Yep. Their supporters support. Period. They don’t do the excuse routine.

They’re also not UVA-Liberty.

Why?

Does this mean we will no longer have the smallest stadium in FBS?

Bahahahahahaha. No we still have it. They are at 19k with 30k on the horizon.

Would not be surprised if in 10 years Liberty gets into a power conference - Big 12+?

Sadly, I will be more surprised if WE get into a power conference in the next 10 years. Hopefully, the eventual new AD can turn things around.
