Lutz Live is tonight at Ham’s Restaurant from 7-8 PM. If you have your 49er Pride Rewards Card there are food discounts available. I am sure Coach Lutz would appreciate a good crowd and your support.
I know that Ham’s has done a good job trying to transform the back room into a 49er room with a number of banners, jerseys, front case display, etc.
WHY ISNT CARLOS WILLIAMS PLAYING MORE!?!?!?!?
This is an interesting question for Lutz. I am assuming he may not be quite up to cardio shape for running a fast offense up the floor for more than 24 minutes a game. Being that he is a true PG. Please ask tonight. I’m not sure if I’ll be there, but no matter what I’ll be listening!
It would help if he didn’t get two first half fouls every single game and have to be protected for the second half. His defense reminds me of my old intramural ole defense, minus the red cape of course.
I do think he will get better as the season moves forward. Colson was a lot better but he didn’t start on fire either. Tough transition for a position that has so much say on the flow of the game.
Said that we needed to be more confident on shots when wide open and not try to force bad shots. I think he is trying to address some of the bad 3pt. attempts. Also stated that we have got to go inside to EJ more. We have been trying but it has not always been working.
If we don’t get some stronger play inside, the defense will just collapse on EJ and we will constantly be forced to shoot 3’s.( my comment not Lutz).
Coach was critical of our play at the 5 spot but also reitererated that injuries have really hurt us there.
I sure hope its injuries because our “5 spot” production has been horrendous:
7.6 ppg
6.4 rpg !?!?!?
0.8 ast
0.8 blocks
2.0 turnovers
0.6 steals
5.6 fouls per game
This is combined between Courtney and Antwon. I dont expect each to drop 20 and 10, but when the two almost average more fouls combined then rebounds, thats not good. Really none of those other numbers bother me, the fouls are actually relatively low then I would have expected between those two, but there is no reason they shouldn’t be averaging 5 rebs atleast each.
Coach did address the issue of shot selection.
