i went to the Florida Vs. LSU game. We sat one section down from the LSU band. They were badass. The fight between the FL and LSU band was badass. It made the game. My point is we need a band on the first kickoff. I will personally pledge 20 a month until kickoff. We need to do this. We need the band. Judy please give us a media to donate
no marching band will be a little embarassing. we need one.
i agree. We need a medium to donate to. i would argue the band is probably 70% the experience.I have gone to a game in all the major confrences. The difference between the SEC and all of the other conferences is the same as the difference between duke basketball and all the other conferences. Everyone cheers not just the student section. Everyone lives and dies with every play. We need a band. My family owns 2 companies and i will donate every dollar i can that wonāt hurt our companies. I would suggest we reach out to Lowes CEO and CFO, and Duke power CFO and John Maine all U of C alumni
I used to be in the marching band in high school and actually started out as a music major at Charlotte. I used to fantasize about me working for the school and being in charge of the marching band whenever we finally landed a football team. (Iām only mentioning all of that to show that my interest in a marching band is probably as much as anybodyās.) As much as I really want a band here for the first kickoff, Iām just not sure if they could come close to being financially ready that fast. The uniforms (buying them initially and then dry cleaning), drum equipment and the larger brass instruments add up to a large sum. I am curious though, has anybody out there heard anything about a timeline when they do plan on having a marching band??? Maybe in a couple of years after our first season?.. The day we do finally add a marching band, that will obviously add a whole 'nother dimension to our gaming experience.
Starting a marching band from scratch would be financial burden, and itās understandable that weāre not going to have a full fledged band from the start.
That said, it would be almost inexcusable if we take the field on day one against Campbell and only have speakers to play our fight song. The band is part of the experience.
We can cut costs a lot of ways.
Buy our drum line and sousaphones used from other college and high school programs.
Use a trailer to store all of those instruments (VT STILL does this).
Get every member of the band matching track pants, green t-shirt, and baseball cap for uniforms. Maybe throw in a full windsuit for the winter games.
Use the actual football field for practices, wonāt have to worry that much about wear and tear, or practice on the football practice fields once the team is done.
Hell, donāt even make it a marching band, just give us a big pep band!
Maybe we could bring in high school marching bands the first season, but they tend to be in competitions during the football season, so this may not be a possibility.
Either way, someone get us a band!
This is what I am expecting! We co need a band of some type there.
I disagree. I went to Elon before coming to Charlote, so I still try to make a game a year⦠They didnāt have a marching band until a year or so after moving into their new stadium. This āPride of the Carolinaāsā band is awful and actually took away from the experience. They sound awful, they marched awful and it was really weak. Short of A and Tās, and FAMUās, Iāve never seen a marching band that moved me.
Iām a whole lot more interested in getting 6000 fsl holders and getting lights than putting any kind of funding in a marching band.
I am an alumni of U of C. I heard it would take 3 million to start a band. That means if you have a 15000 people stadium it would take only 6.7% of the total population to fund a band at 20 dollars a month. This is why i suggest judy start a medium to donate monthly. I would argue that they have a general donation to U of C/ NCIT center. I would perfer to donate to a general fund that would bring a medical school and possibly buy out charlotte law. It sickens me that our state is considering bringing a tarfag medical school to our territory with out asking us. This is OUR CITY/HOUSE that we must protect. I declare a full on civil war against Chapel hill. This is our town and they should endorse a 4 years school through us. Not try and shove a 2 year through them.
to get back to what i was say though. you go to firehouse and they aske you to donate a dollar for some situation. We need to change to to donate to a band and complete the experience

Itās harder to get a band started at a small private school than at a large public university. Thereās more than enough ex-marchers on campus right now to get a band started.
THREE MILLION? Iād like to see the breakdown of that.
My point here is i donāt want to get into an argument. I just want a medium that we can all donate to in the name of our university
You racist⦠shame on youā¦
sorry bro, point taken, i will tone it down

Nah donāt mind me, I enjoy making random comments. Most of the time they donāt even make sense ;D
wtf happened here?
i was asking the same question myself. and i want to see how a marching band costs 3 million to start.
not trying to start an argument. It was just relaying what i thought i overheard some people say. The 3 million i stated in perivous post was merely what i thought i overheard people say not fact. Once again i donāt want an argment. I just want people to think about all aspects of the college experience. If this leads to a so called argument leads to a band i am all for it. Seriously, though i am more interested in coming up with a plan to start a band than i am arguing on how much it would cost to start a band.
Thereās no argument here, but itās relevant to the conversation, isnāt it?
If we can get a breakdown for the $3 Million Band, then we can see where costs can be cut.
