Lexington, NC :)

It’s funny that in NC and parts of the south BBQ is a noun, where in the rest of the country, or the world, it is an adjective or I guess a verb.

When I first moved to Charlotte, many years ago, I was always confused when people would ask if I liked BBQ.

How can I find the members map?

It’s right under Plavich and the Calendar button and above.

Lexington BBQ isn't the best place in the area. Speedy's on Highway 8 is my favorite along with Tar Heel BBQ at the Yadlkin River on Highway 64.

Order Cheerwine at Speedy’s and they give you a pitcher on the table for refills with that wonderful crushed ice.

HP, I had the luxury of spending the first 17 years of my life in a home that was located exactly inbetween Speedy’s and Lexington BBQ (The Monk). Both are great but I always felt Speedy’s was underrated. I probably ate there more than I did Lexington BBQ actually. It’s just a shame that no one can serve BBQ in the Charlotte area that’s even close to either. And please don’t say Bubba’s or Spoon’s because neither can hold a candle to the BBQ, the slaw, the dip or the sweet tea. I’ve tried both a couple times and I’ve been very disappointed each time. Same goes for Sonny’s and Carolina Country which I can’t even classify as real BBQ. Those two places are disgusting.

I have a good friend in my hometown of Lexington who meets me at Concord Mills every other month to give me a big supply of goods from Lexington BBQ. I’m due for another freezer fill-up. There’s some good BBQ in Wilson as well but I don’t think it can touch Lexington. I’m biased of course.

Unfortunately, that is very true.

As a former resident of WS, I’ve made many stops in Lexington for BBQ.

I just wish that I could make it to Lexington on my trips south. I always come down I-84, I-81, and I-77 to avoid the Cross Bronx/GW/NJTP mess and as a result haven’t been down I-85 in 20 years or so. The route is a lot longer but less traffic and no tolls.

My wife likes BBQ (she bought me a professional quality smoker  ) but won’t set foot in a Sonny’s when I come to Charlotte, which is probably just as well. I didn’t like Old Hickory House either.

Do any of the Lexington BBQs ship?
