Sorry. Found this, but know it is off topic.
thanks mark. but instead of that story making the observer they printed big article about state and duke. it was a big stink.

now. back on topic for the soccer team.

we need to get a big crowd out there this friday to show our support and appreciation.

Yeah most students (nor athletes) probably even realize a #3 team played in that old concrete stadium by the hospital. Produced a couple MLS guys.

i doubt anyone living in charlotte new we were ranked number 3. well. maybe they did. that was before a former nn.n poster took over at the o.

i’ll be there friday night. we need a huge turnout to cheer these guys on.

I believe it was actually '96 (when we made the Final Four = College Cup) and we were already in the “new” stadium, IIRC.

I remember going to John Tart’s soccer camp those years lol

Congrat’s guys! Keep it going, stay focused on the bigger prize.

Tart was not the coach in those days.

It was the legendary Frank Kohlenstein. Judy fired him when they were the shiznit for supposedly striking a player at practice. He was the last of Charlotte coaches who would call out the AD.

I learn something new each day.
Be interesting to see if Coach Gunn sticks around for another season. This squad has one senior, and look how good they are. It’d be hard to walk away from a team that could be even better next year.
Why would he not stick around???

This is really excellent news. I’m sure its a combination of a Charlotte program on the rise, the popularity of the World Cup, and the number of youth programs we reach out to and give tickets to our game on a regular basis. All factors are just great for the program. I love that we are bringing kids to this campus with their parents in hopes of making the CHARLOTTE CONNECTION early in life. Too few kids are raised to pull for the Niners.

Great news. I expect to see a lot of you out at Friday’s game. GO NINERS!
