Mike Hill and the Future

That is a public record right? North Carolina has public records laws which should apply to state universities.

My guess is we paid out much more than $30k. We should demand an account from Mike Hill.

I’m beginning to think some of the posters on this site need a good psychiatrist.

The obsessive incessant hammering and hammering would indicate. They’ll never stop. So it’s time for me to do the sane thing and take a break from this constant crapping on the sports of the school I love.
Peace out, NINER NATION.

Biff his new. If his son played for Sanchez a few years, scored over 30 in a few games on a bad team, and still didn’t start, maybe he would think differently

clt corrects it for biff

he is a wonderful man, and coach

We can’t afford to pay others? Wtf are you talking about.

Can him. Most of it not all will be offset and hire a guy from a lower league that has won and would be thrilled to make $500-650k

Biff has the right to tweet his support. Solidarity between coaches. I get it. Now saying you would want your son to play for Ron, hmmmm I guess he didn’t say “only” Ron. I’d let my son play for Ron too depending on the other D1 offers, if any others.

BUT you don’t need to be coach getting paid millions of dollars to lead/groom/advise these young men. There’s a lot of other professions and volunteering jobs that do that exact same thing. You are a D1 coach, you are paid to WIN. Now don’t be an a-hole coach and might as well be a good role model for your players at the same time but that’s all secondary.

Maybe Biff will see him as a reclamation project. Sanchez is obviously a smart dude who cares. It’s a little late for a mentor to turn Sanchez around here, but honestly, if Poggi could call on the Pope for some miracle that would make Sanchez win us meaningful games in winning seasons, I would convert to Catholicism!

When answering this question, think of it as Hill just hired a new basketball today… how long do you give him to make the NCAA Tourney before firing him and trying to find a new coach that can?

How many years should Hill give a basketball coach to make the NCAA Tourney before hiring another coach?
  • 3 years
  • 4 years
  • 5 years
  • 6+ years

I prefer to think of it as a team worthy of a NCAA bid. Given how NCAA selection is these days I won’t hold it against the coach if we get acrewed. I say 3 years - 4 max.

I will say this. I have never seen an administration go to bat this far for a Coach with Sanchez resume / record at the helm. It tells me even if we win with Sanchez we will have a Herb Sendek type of relationship with the fans and Sanchez till his tenure is over.

Poggi is an interesting input on this. He is a first year Coach. Why is he commenting? Is Hill telling him to? If you believe Sanchez is so great why the need to defend him? Are the voices getting louder around the administration about Sanchez? The AD meetings and lunches would be an interesting listen.

I think the Poggi comments are interesting too. It’s not like Will wasn’t a nice guy too. If all schools didn’t fire good noble people, then there would be much less turnover and we would have never had Will or Biff as coach.

The cover they are running for Ron in the face of fan backlash is really really disturbing. Disinformation campaign.

Questioning Poggi’s motives and his right to an opinion on this site is beyond belief. You guys need to get a life.

Maybe Biff just wants Sanchez around to help make the football program look better & ensure that it is top dog. I’ve heard plenty of fans say they’ve given up on basketball & are looking forward to football. This could be Biff’s evil plan to increase supporr for football. Or Mike told him to do it because we are broke & can’t fire him or Ron is related to Mike in some way we don’t know about. Could be anything. But it’s really weird to put out those tweets.

Or maybe Biff just likes the guy. He has a right to his opinion as do you

Northwestern, Stanford, and WKU come to mind. Of course, Wildcats made the NCAAT after a 6 year absence and Hilltoppers finally pulled the plug on Slick Rick. The hapless Cardinal just allowed one of their most heralded basketball alumni take the HC job at UC Berkeley when they could have had him. It happens.

I didn’t question Biff at all there. I’m just saying Biff wouldn’t have this opportunity if schools kept good people regardless of performance.

We would still have Lambert. Honestly I see a lot of parallels between Lambert and Sanchez.
