Yeah I recall being told by Phil that he was at a conference and he told another schools president he had to go help interview a basketball head coach, I think that was the major cycle and the other president said why? Donāt you have an AD? Phil I think saw it as a āIm Involved in all thingsā kinda way.
Itās also why I think we consistently under him and To some extent Judy kept hiring low energy guys. Neither really wanted to deal with typical alpha dog kinda coaches.
They both hated Bobby.

Not one single conference tournament win during his tenure here. We were once thought of as a basketball school.

Get him out. Our AD hired 13-21 HC Peep Healy from Austin Peay and Biff. Who wasnāt even on the Michigan website. Mike Houston played him. Extending Ron multiple times. His tenure is FUBAR. Weāve sucked in basketball + football. But at least we have Track and Field championships.

This was my original question when I started this thread. There isnāt a program in the country that would be considered a step up that would touch Mike hill with a 20 foot pole. Heās done abysmally in the two main sports.
Itās clear he is settled in and will ride out this tenure as long as possible. He has no pedigree to go anywhere else and shows no signs of improving. If we donāt fire him soon, we will beblooking back from 2035 trying to figure out why we sucked for so long.
Whether itās his incompetence or something more malicious, if the goal is to win at revenue sports and raise our profile, itās unquestionable. Mike hill is the wrong person for the job.

How much mindshare does an academically focused chancellor of a university like ours actually have for athletics as long as itās scandal free?
My guess is Hill has certain metrics he has to meet within a certain timeframe or heās gonna be gone and a chancellor doesnāt have time to deviate from that plan sans some kind of scandal.
Itās time. Judy only got 3 awful hires.
Mike now has his 3. And very likely 4.
I just think you guys are wasting your time. Nothings going to happen during the season and likely not till one years left on contracts.

Yep, donāt need an AD scandal such as the current one thatās embroiling Rutgers. Of course, the sudden resignation of Pat Hobbs was initially attributed to one of the PR favs - āfor health-related reasonsā!
