Yeah Mike hasnt fixed basketball and can be held accountable for that, but it was dead before he got here.
He didnt F up a working program. He took over a bad program and made it not quite as bad, but still far from good.

How can you defend Mike Hill. He is very well compensated for his many failures. Mike Hill has perpetuated excuses upon excuses for his substantially deficient results.
Blame Judy, blame Covid, blame NIL, when are Niners going to alert themselves and stop enabling Mike Hill to get paid for his perpetual failures.
You can dislike, even hate Judy Rose all you want, and for good reasons. Mike Hill is no better than Judy Rose, and perhaps much worse. Certainly, the only grandiose claims about Mike Hill’s many successes, are in fact fabricated and spun by Mike Hill himself. Mike Hill is the only self made legend I am aware of who has no actual success.
Where did I defend him? I said he needs to be held accountable for not fixing it.
All I said was basketball was already dead when he got here. He didn’t kill it. He just hasnt fixed it.

It is not true. This basketball program was dying, but now is way past dead under Mike Hill. WTF has Mike Hill done? Really. He is a silent killing disease that has fooled too many people into believing in him, when he has done nothing but embarrass and destroy

Regardless of who is responsible for killing our bball program, each year that goes by without repair makes it more difficult to recover. We must take action now in some productive way. The status quo is not working!
When Jeff Mullins arrived in the 80s, we were within 10 years of making the Final Four. As AD and HC, Mullins resurrected our program before turning the reigns over to Rose. With Mullins to Watkins to Lutz (all Mullins people), we had a great run and were trending upward. Then, our program got destroyed without any accoutability - quite the opposite. I believe we have had unbelievable tolerance for the results deivered over the last 15+ years.

Not suggesting we get rid of Mike Hill but rather make sure we have metrics in place that we can measure true success inside our athletic department. Soccer, softball, baseball, and golf are all fun. But let’s face it, it really doesn’t move the needle is it relates to the status of our great University located in the Great City of Charlotte North Carolina. We are capable of so much more!

See now you you make me sound like im defending him. None of the teams we have seen with Mike are as bad as Mark Price teams. Mike hasn’t fixed basketball, far from it, Hes made some poor choices and should be held accountable for it.
It makes it sound like you can’t have a logical pragmatic discussion about his performance with some of your statements.
From my position until we figure out this nil and portal crap how to invest equal to our conf peers we won’t be able to win, no matter what Mike does.
A much more firable offense from Mike was hiring Biff. Or it’s lack of fundraising for Evergreen. Or its lack of people in the 49er club. Or its lack of new corporate sponsors.
All of those are more justified than current basketball state as reasons to be upset with Mike.

I hope Mike Hill doesn’t expect to be here 20 years as AD with these crappy results. Not much to be proud about with football, basketball, and baseball being bad.
The biggest issue with hill is poor fundraising and lack of 49er club growth. That’s his most important job

Absolutely.
Ws and Ls get attention - but the finance side is thee most important. If you cant raise enough money you end up with compromised hiring as we have seen - now it makes it tough to buy players. Less money makes everything harder. More money makes everything easier. We have the 79th ranked budget. Thats the bottom third of programs that play D1 football.

I don’t believe Mike Hill is a bad guy. His results prove he is bad for Charlotte. His job was to fix the basketball program. People saying his hires did better than Mark Price show how low the bar of expectations is now under Hill.

No his job is way bigger than that. Basketball is a component but it’s far more than the only thing.
Basketball was a disaster but so was just about everything.
