Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel on MU game Still looking for a remedy

Notable notes from article:

Charlotte got 23 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals from vastly underrated Eddie Basden, 20 points and five cold-blooded three-pointers from gunner Brendan Plavich, and 17 points and 14 rebounds from big man Curtis Withers.

The return to the starting lineup of point guard Mitchell Baldwin, who missed the 49ers’ last game with a dislocated shoulder, also provided a boost for Charlotte and an additional challenge for MU. He scored seven points and committed just one turnover in 30 productive minutes.

The game turned on consecutive three-pointers by Basden and Plavich. Plavich’s trey, from well beyond the top of the key, gave Charlotte a 59-56 lead with 8:53 left that deflated what had become an energized and vocal crowd.

“Brandon, I think, is the best three-point shooter on the road in America,” said Charlotte coach Bobby Lutz. “He thrives on the challenge and the pressure. He hit some huge ones down the stretch.”

Added Basden: “We knew they were going to make runs. We answered with a strong comeback. We kept fighting and wouldn’t let this one slip away.”
