Most Worthless Degrees

I wish college was not so long. If you come in knowing what you want to do, I should not have to take so many b.s. classes. I have a friend who graduated from Chapel Hill with a history or political science degree…and is now in last semester at Charlotte Law. This person doesn’t know crap about finances, 401K, nothing. Every college student should be forced to take a personal finance class…not 2 sciences and 1 with a lab. I don’t remember a damn thing from half my classes.

I’d go further with personal finance, it should be a mandatory high school class.

But you don’t take chemistry as a computer science major (or whatever) so you can remember how to balance those equations, you take it so you can prove you can learn something outside of your major. The vast majority of schooling isn’t about the subject matter, it’s learning how to learn. That’s why a college degree is important to a lot of companies, in many fields the technical knowledge you learn in school won’t be directly applicable to a post-college job, but it proves you can learn which is the most important skill to have in many fields.
