My Experience In Memphis!!

I will not go into everything here, but let me tell you first that our teams effort in that ball game was there believe it or not. The first half was great! Plain and simple the cards were just stacked against us!! Think about everything from CUSA needing to make money off this tourney so Memphis must advance so that fans keep coming out, and to just Calapari tactics in general. NO ONE WAS BEATING MEMPHIS LAST NIGHT PERIOD! Yes I know our 2nd half performance was pitiful, but it didn’t matter because they could see what was going on with refs, etc. and they just gave up! All fans that I talked to, especially Cincy fans said the same thing about us and this game. I would simply just mention our game and those fans would start talking about the raw deal we got right off the bat!

Now the good stuff…

Cincy loss ='s them coming back to the Hotel and eating a team dinner prepared by the hotel followed by bedtime. (They were all pissed!)

Charoltte loss ='s our team going out and about Beale Street and partying in the bars all night. Iti thought he was a stud! What a joke! I will say that I did not see Withers or Basden which was good thing I guess.

I’ll just end with…our team had to take the Greyhound Bus home today rather then a plane ride. No lie! President Bush was in town and airport is shut down. Atleast they will have a long time to think about that game!

How does being at the game make a difference as far as determining effort level? If anything it handicaps you because I had the luxury of tivo and I will tell you that the effort was horrible, other than Withers.

Yeah, for Memphis. We got killed on the boards, lost every loose ball and missed free throws.

There was no conspiracy either. The officials missed calls both ways. We beat ourselves by playing poor defensively and rebounding like girls.

Please don’t blame officiating for that loss (or any for that matter) and stop with the conspiracy theories. Those officials couldn’t care less about how much money cusa makes or loses and nobody talked to them about it before the game. They don’t work for cusa, they work for the ncaa.

A lot of teams would have beat them last night.

Agreed, we may have caught Louisville on their perfect night, but Memphis was beatable last night. If we boxed out and got defensive rebounds or shot decently it would have been a different game.

I just saw a pig fly and hell is currently at 30 degrees and falling…but I just agreed with EVERYTHING PI just said.

Wow.

That hurt to admit.

Well, isn’t that great. Our team partied and kicked it on Beale Street after a great performance. Glad they were so focused on what they were there for!

Lutz should have locked their asses down after their third straight L. Pitiful. Talk about lack of discipline. NO WONDER. They get it from the coach. “Guys, it’s okay. Just go out and party tonight and we’ll get 'em next time.” What a joke! I really respect Huggins right now and I am starting to really get angry about this team.

Oh well, did I expect any more?

That doesn’t surprise me one bit. It’s been that way here for years.

Hope we get hungry for a win before next week…make that starved. Anyway the ribs at Rendezous in Memphis were awesome. Cant wait till Sunday to see who we get matched up with and where we are going to play. Would really suck if we didnt get an invitation.

Withers was out last night too. I didn't see Eddie though.

I tend to agree about the officiating. I’m not saying it is THE reason we lost, but it certainly contributed. Memphisvgot all of the close calls and it seemed to take the wind out of our sails. I have had two Louisville fans stop me on the street and say the same thing.

we saw eddie as we were trying to find a cab, like 2:30

i also saw sager at Club 152

The worst part of our loss last night:

a 5-year-old kid pointed at me and thumbed his nose at me because I was wearing a Charlotte shirt. Didn’t like it one little bit. This was after the Cincy-USF game. Wasn’t it past that brat’s bedtime?

runner up:

some jerk 5 rows in front of me turning around and pointing at me and yelling at me repeatedly to get up and then jingling his keys at me. First time for me. Didn’t like it.

Sitting in the stands after the game, overheard some Cincinnati fans saying how we were robbed in that game. Later, walking back after the USF game, a group of Louisville fans went out of their way to stop me and tell me how we got robbed by the officials. I bit my lip because I don’t believe that the refs can cost you a game alone. I thought our guys gave up in the 2nd half out of frustration. Plus, the only missed call I saw was Plav getting hacked on the arm for a 3-pointer that was called an airball. If noone had said anything to me, I wouldn’t have thought officiating had anything to do with it. I’m just sad that our guys gave up for that long a span. I really wish they had dug deep and put forth a little more effort instead of letting their frustration getting the better of them.

Come on guys, buck up! It’s a new season!
