“We love their program and we know it’s rising in status and profile. At the same time, it’s become increasingly difficult for any radio station to participate in play-by-play. For many reasons it’s a losing financial proposition. Also, the ratings are generally low because of the splintered interest in the many different college programs concentrated in this area. Even the Panthers and Bobcats are a dicey financial proposition because at the professional level, the cost of doing business has become an irresponsible investment. It’s a nice compliment that you would suggest WBT as a partner with the 49ers. Thank you. Still, I hope this explanation makes a little sense as to why this probably won’t occur.”

At least you got a reply, and probably an honest one at that.
WBT and 99.7 FM are still in the running for the Panthers’ contract to do all the games, but neither of them seems to want it. It’s just not a lucrative deal for them. It’s “dicey” like they said.
