NBA Referee throwing games.

Uh oh…

I have seen some ****ty calls over the years in all sports.

I bet he was still calling a better game than the A10 refs do…

I guess the NBA was jealous of all the bad PR the NFL was getting and wanted in on the action… Lets see here is the list:

NFL - Dog figting, strip club assults, DUIs

NBA - Ref betting on games, fixing games, a crazy violent all star weekend, thug perception by the middle class and tv ratings going way down

MLB - Steroid problems rampant, major star about to break a legendary record and no one cares, race problems?

NHL - Do they still play hockey?

ProWrestling - Steroid problem

ProGolf - According to Gary Player steroid problem

Bicycle - Still suffering from doping, another rider was found positive in the tour

So far the only major sport that I have not heard one negative thing about, in terms of steroids or violence is Tennis. I am not counting soccer in the US… just not popular enough yet.

NHL is on the right track. And that track is rebuilding to become a better league.

Game 6 Stanley Cup Finals…on Versus

Yeah, TV coverage has definitely taken a step back since the lockout. I think it will get better over time, though, as long as teams in the not-as-strong hockey markets (Hurricanes, Coyotes, the Florida teams) continue to do well and drum up interest in those areas.

That's what I said!

Stupid A-10:dry:

The NHL will never recover unless it caps its expenses and ticket prices and sticks firm to it. Just look at what the Rangers and other teams did to my Sabres this offseason. Small-market city that loves hockey … but the Sabres will bleed money paying prices that MSG’s Rangers are willing to pay to try to win. Everything is starting to creep back up, up, up …

The only thing that the NHL has done really well, in my opinion, is some teams have started a premium pricing policy for their better games. So Toronto is like an hour and a half from Buffalo, and Leafs fans invade and eat up the tickets for those games, which are always competitive. So, the Sabres price Leaf tickets higher than say Florida Panther tickets, and everyone wins. Leafs fans still come in droves, but at least now the Sabres are making more money off of them. And for a crappy opponent, the ticket gets a little bit cheaper to try to draw in more fans.

And as for vices in tennis, the only one you could really come up with would be the child prodigy thing, where these Mr. Williams-type parents steal childhoods and have their kids playing at Bolliterri’s at 5 years old … But comparitively, you’re right, no major problems except no one cares in the U.S.

People care about tennis here? Fooled me.

Not so much at this moment, but it has been very popular.

Not so much tennis, per se. But I care about Anna Kournikova, Maria Sharapova, and the many, many fine-lookin’ women on the court.

Uh oh....

FBI? The ****ing FBI? Don’t they have more important things to do than investigate if a referee blew some games? GAMES being the important word here.

I assume they are investigating it because of the connection to organized crime and the mafia

Oh, sorry, I didn’t read down that far. Got it.

Very interesting. This article states that the games that Tom Donaghy’s officiated the past 2 season (which are being investigated) the teams combined to go over the vegas over 57% of the time, which has the odds of 19 to 1. In the 2 years prior Donaghy’s games only went over the vegas over 41% of the time.

Looks to me that they were betting the over / under and Donaghy was calling a higher than normal amount of fouls. Probably games where you see one team get in the bonus in the first few minutes of the 2nd or 3rd quarter, that is much easier to get away with than sending guys to the line in the final minutes of a not close game.

Not so much tennis, per se. But I care about Anna Kournikova, Maria Sharapova, and the many, many fine-lookin' women on the court.

You got me there.

I don’t think that’s fair though. There are plenty of fine looking US women’s soccer players. I am incurably in love with Cat Whitehill.

If Donaghy did the finals last year no one will watch the NBA again, the way Wade got to the line everytime he touched the ball was shady even before all of this.
