Was she asking to be paid an NBA salary? I missed that part.
The word is “their” by the way.
Someone working at Walmart or wherever is allowed to point out that their pay sucks because , well, that is the reality. That does not necessarily mean they think they should be paid like, for example, a civil engineer.
If she thinks she should be paid NBA money, then I agree that is not realistic.
She could be paid more than $78 K without coming near NBA money.
She’s going to be paid what their contract says she’s going to be paid. And all the whining about pay equity is nothing but bs.
And your pointing out of my grammatical mistake is cheap.
Figured I’d find that vid pretty easily but took a while. So in the middle of a conversation with someone off picture, Reese and the other woman start talking about paying bills. And former points out her WNBA salary doesn’t cover everything. And I guess all that supposed “whining” gets drowned out by all the laughter etc. Talk about a nothing burger courtesy of good ol’ social media. But at the end of the day, it’s all about the clicks!
Yes, it was cheap. As was “does that help?”
At the risk of being overly repetitive, WNBA players should not be paid like NBA players. That would be absurd if that is what Angel was implying. I don’t know if she was saying anything other than it would be hard to pay her bills on just her salary. May or may not be factual and may or may not be whining.
i think it quite likely that both of us are full of shit
Well, she never mentioned the NBA during the jovial exchange. Like I said earlier, the “reaction” is mostly about the clicks.
I am stupid enough to jump into the deep end on this. It really says more about Reese that she would go on record that she can’t live on 70k+ yr as a recent college graduate (1 yr) with rent being 8k a month and I guess a car payment near that as well. Do like every other American and try to live within your means. Yes she has endorsements that pay for all of her floor seats at Lakers games, opening night at the MET etc… but you are just sounding phony/entitled when other WNBA players who don’t have the endorsements like she does to have to listen to you and turn the public against them and their fight for a higher % of rev. Equal pay comes with equal revenue, fair pay comes with fair revenue % for all parties.
Okay, I just watched the vid again - twice - and we’re both just getting a different take from her comments. I still think it’s much ado about nothing since her net worth is $2 million. And the new Unrivaled league she is part of will reportedly pay her at least double her WNBA salary. Like many athletes, making more money from endorsements than in one’s actual profession is nothing new. Anyway, would think her business advisors with both DBA Management and Clearview Group are keeping a watchful eye on her finances.
Definitely needs some work or just do without:
Salary + endorsements:
I think you are 100% correct on this point.
Near the end I saw and was reminded that Maxwell’s 31 hangs in those hallowed Celtic rafters.
Aside from his jerkiness, he was a great player here and as a pro.
Sadly, today he’d be ripped away from us after his sophomore season.
I’ll never forget his years here and I’m glad I got to witness those great moments in person.
Wish he was a better ambassador and supporter of our program. From what I hear he just doesn’t engage.
Dookie definitely living up to being first pick in 2022 NBA Draft and the league’s 2023 Rookie of the Year as well as a 2024 All Star.
According to that photo, she may be leaving basketball to pursue her career as a dominitrix. [whip cracking sound goes here]
Now official. BTW, Purdue grad played a season for the Charlotte Sting.
