NBA + WNBA news etc (non-Hornets) 🏀

See that 2022 Niner recruit Jalen Hood-Schifino a part of the Mavs + Lakers deal. Played HS hoops at Northside and Combine academies before finishing up at Monteverde in Florida. Initially committed to play for hometown Pitt but flipped to Indiana. After a one-and-done with the Hoosiers, selected 17th by the Lakers in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Is this the real motivation for the trade?

Regardless, losing out on that would piss me off if I were him.

$69 mil per year. Dayum.

Cavs vs the now Luka-less Mavs:

Not like Miriam Adelson couldn’t afford the supermax with a net worth of $32B. Of course, she and her son-in-law only became majority owners fairly recently so could be they didn’t want to fork over that kind of money to one player. Certainly not shy about doing so when it comes to politics!

Maybe the Mavs just don’t think he was going to be worth it.

He is a great player but he has a lot of weight and lack of commitment to fitness issues.

I’m not paying someone that amount of money unless they are fully committed to maximizing their talent.

The trade is kind of unreal though. They got back so little.

I can’t understand how this happened.

My gut says the owner got involved because otherwise this is almost criminal negligence.

I’m also kind of sick of the NBA Supermax. It’s like 30 or 33 percent of the salary cap.

What mainly pisses me off is when the players making so much complain about their team not putting enough talent around them.

How about not taking so much of the cap then??

So much for the PHX or nothing talk:
